Meet Tyson Pete | Award Nominated Author, Celebrity Chef, Singer/ Songwriter and Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyson Pete and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyson, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
To create, keep creative control and freedom to express myself. I have the freedom to set my own rates, work my own hours, and determine my own vision behind what it is that I do. Being able to share my vision as I see it and to see my goals, hard work and dedication come to life. Sharing a piece of me with the world and leaving my mark on this earth has also been very important to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tyson Pete is a man of many talents. But they were all forged out of tragedy. Born in Wichita, Kansas, raised by a hardworking, very strict mother, he was guaranteed to be strong, meticulous, and skillful in everything he would do. With his mother working very hard, Tyson was often left to his own imaginations and childlike curiosity. Like many other urban born children, he saw his community diminishing and killing itself daily. With such degradation before him, it was painfully apparent to those around Tyson that he would grow up to be what all those before him had been, a statistic. And he almost did.
In elementary and junior high school Tyson was viciously bullied. As any child would, Tyson sought out help, only to find he had no one to depend on. So, he had to learn, and quickly, how to defend himself. And he did, but not before taking well over his share of brutal beatings. Tyson’s reality was most certainly not an easy one. He had many struggles and valleys that he trudged through. It came to a point where mere survival was considered a win.
At the age of fourteen, Tyson began to experiment with drugs. He quickly found that life was easier when he escaped reality than when he was faced with it. Finding it very easy to make money, he was able to feed his habits and still find time to go to school. Through elementary, junior high, and high school, Tyson proved to be incredibly intelligent. Graduating 2 years early, he went on to college and graduated while still doing whatever it took to get money and escape his reality.
But then as though life had a personal vendetta against him, Tyson was faced with the biggest blow of his life, homelessness. As he went from family member to family member and friend to friend, he couldn’t find any place to lay his head and take a breath.
Now in the streets of New Jersey, Tyson found himself completely alone, with nowhere to go and no one to call on. Tyson was in a cold, dark, haunting place, with no light to guide him. He knew that if he didn’t do something he would die, so he did whatever he could find to do. By any means necessary he was determined to live.
Finally, Tyson realized he needed help and was directed to a facility that helped men get back on track. However, when Tyson took residence there, he had all but given up on life. Surely this couldn’t be his life. Surely there was more than this. But to him it seemed all hope was lost, until one day a woman came into the facility and changed his life. She offered him a job as a cook in her restaurant. He couldn’t believe it. “Are you sure?” he asked her repeatedly. And she assured him that she was. This changed his life forever. Tyson’s first passion is cooking. And this woman must have seen that in him. Because not only did she give him a good paying job and a place to live, but she also sent him to culinary school. And because of this single opportunity, Tyson Pete became a Celebrity Chef. He has cooked for stars such as Michael B. Jordan, Ms. Lauren Hill, and senator Cory Booker. He has catered for organizations such as BET, CNN, MTV and The City of Newark.
If Mr. Pete’s story ended here; it would be a great rag to riches story indeed. However, this was just his beginning. He would go on to author a five-time nominated book called “Dirty Laundry, Confessions Of A Married Bi-Sexual Man”, three books of poetry, “Love Lesson”, “Alone After Midnight,” Stronger This Time,” and his new projects as well as other surprises.
He became an entrepreneur opening multiple businesses, one of which is called The Pieces Of Me, LLC where he is a full time Certified Life Coach helping people live happier, healthier lives. He is also a community Activist as well as a Philanthropist.
BOLD, BRAVE, and APPOINTED are just a few words the masses would use to describe the legendary stance that is Tyson. He is an anomaly on Earth without a doubt In the midst of surviving his childhood after being abandoned by his mother, Tyson subsequently graduated high school at 15 and had to provide for himself by any means necessary. As a result, he quickly realized he was all he had. Though he tried to make it on his own, attending college and being trained by the best at the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute, he fell victim to the lack of finances and became homeless with nowhere to go. Finding himself in his darkest hour he finally got one chance and that was all he needed.
Tyson immediately found purpose within his trained background and instantly made magic! He became a chef in a very affluent restaurant, went on to become a Celebrity Chef to the Stars, all while being founder of Black Eminence Inc, which focuses on molding our youth and educating them on their power and purpose! In the midst of being a vessel to many; Tyson is a devoted father to four amazing souls that remain the backbone of the vision behind Black Eminence.
After the world took of a sip of his truth tea that was his amazing work in his novel, “Dirty Laundry: Diary of a Bisexual Married Man”, needless to say that the table was definitely shook as Tyson peeled back the layer of his unapologetic truth. Now, with the highly anticipated release of his fifth and sixth book, the masses are on the edge of their seats to learn more about Thee Tyson Pete.
His ultimate desire is to give young people an opportunity to change their lives as someone once set the stage for him to do so.

Today, Tyson lives with his four beautiful children, has founded a nonprofit organization called Black Eminence Inc. and has dedicated his life to helping others to have a life that isn’t striving for survival, but about living to the fullest. Mr. Pete says, “There’s no reason that we all can’t eat, we just have to put in the work when the opportunity is revealed”.
Tyson is also thrilled to announce his smooth and sexy R&B musical Debut Single: “One Day,” sure to be an instant R & B classic and fan fav with music lovers of all ages.
The title track “One Day” was Written and arranged by none other than Award-Nominated Author, Celebrity Chef, Entrepreneur & Certified Life Coach Tyson Pete himself, so it’s more personal and dear to his heart as he shows a more vulnerable and softer side to himself that fans are not used to OR EXPECTING. “One Day” was recorded and produced by Tyler the Great at Demun Studios out of Phoenix, Arizona and while fans are used to his raunchiness & straight forwardness, Tyson is excited as well as anxious to show a different and softer side to himself. Surprising his fans with not only his long-awaited Part 2 to Dirty Laundry and new cookbook coming this year but something that was least expected from him and something that his fans are sure to adore…. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
California in its entirety is amazing and there is so much to do. I would certainly start off with dinner at Spago Beverly Hills. Their Australian Black Winter truffles and spinach fettuccine Pasta is to die for. Literally. Go to one of the many beautiful art museums that Los Angeles has to offer, catch some fun in the sun at the beach in Santa Monica and relax, catch up and enjoy each others company. It really doesn’t take a lot in California honestly, you can go outside and be entertained.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my 4 children whom keep me going, keeps me on my toes and keep me grounded and level headed. It’s amazing to come home after everything is said and done and just be Dad and feel real love and not have to worry about anything other than just being their father. Although they are my #1 fans, it’s good to break away from the world and just be Dad. Also, my amazing mentor, celebrity chef Vonda McPherson of Vonda’s Kitchen out of Newark, New Jersey. She really shaped and molded me business wise and professionally. She took the time to not only get to know me, but show me the in and outs out being a chef, sent me back to school and helped me perfect my craft as a Celebrity Chef in my own right.
