We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Campos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Growing up I’ve always had art in my blood and being part of the environment motivated more to make art my full time career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A little about my career and past.

I grew up a graffiti artist loved and still love the street life.
I was your average family man and part time worker up until 2015 I had a bad accident which lead to some jail time.
While I was incarcerated I decided to change my life and and be more serious about what’s next for me and my family and my career.
Once I got out In 2016 I started experimenting with more artistic spray paint.
Got introduced to “zender” and from there he taught me everything.
Then I started doing murals on my own and created my own team.
Smteam
“Street muralist ”
“Stay Motivated “.
Doing productions in plenty areas.
Still growing till this day.

But murals weren’t always covering it.
Living in the antelope Valley (palmdale/lancaster)
The art community was very small.
So ofcourse I always had a job.

Up until 2020 when covid shut down the cnc company I was working at.

During that time I took a chance and decided to try tattooing.
My friend & owner of “la familia tattoo studio ” angel (heptic) Munoz
Guided me on the steps to becoming an tattoo artist.
After 1 year I had a booth in his shop.
So I am very grateful till this day to be a full time muralist and tattoo artist.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the art world there’s plenty of places to go but over all I would love to chill at venice Beach art walls. The grafflab & the Pacoima graff yard.
The environment of graff artist, muralist and tattoo artist just enjoying themselves free styling on large scale walls is the best feeling.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First me there is multiple people that helped and inspired me get to where I am now. The list is endless and I’m grateful for each and everyone of my friends and family.
There is 1 person that took me under his wing and tought me the real life in and outs of the art world and helped me build my skills to its highest potential.
John “zender ” Estrada
Without him I would have still been trying to figure out myself.
