We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadège and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadège, how do you think about risk?
I am a big fan of taking risks. It is the clearest path to personal growth. As a sex scholar and coach, I’m often helping people take risks in their personal life that lead to positive breakthroughs. Things like opening up about sexual preferences with a partner, exploring ethical non-monogamy, or living your single life to the fullest by putting yourself out there and exploring sex-positive experiences (like a BDSM class!) Whether it’s professionally or personally, we fear taking risks because we misunderstand failure and rejection. Failure is a compass guiding you where you are meant to go. As for rejection, I personally believe that there is no such thing as rejection, just redirection. I’ve failed many times over the course of my career, and this makes me grateful. My success is a result of risks taken, lessons learned, and wins earned! Risks are a way that we find our path, find our passion, and find ourselves.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I made the choice to start Pleasure Science and make a living as a sex scholar and coach, it felt like I had found a home that always existed inside my heart.

If challenges arise in my business, I always go back to my core values and check in with myself. This intuitive system allows me to make choices I am proud of and honor my boundaries. A major lesson I’ve learned is that you can have everything you want if you accept that things will happen in their own timeline. Only control what you can control, and do not be afraid to temporarily take projects off your plate or delay deadlines: there is no rush, only your hurry. This mindset led to me having one of the biggest honors in my business to date, writing a #1 bestselling book!

Today, Pleasure Science is a place where people can find sex-positive advice through my books, articles, classes, and private coaching. I also speak and teach at events that are centered around pleasure, wellness, and personal development. Pleasure Science has measurably empowered people across the globe to feel healthier and secure in their sexuality, and I couldn’t be prouder of the positive impact we have.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monday is a great day to enjoy leisure. We’d hit up Wi Spa for a day of saunas, hot tubs, and delicious Korean food.

Tuesday we’d go to the beach, there is a private cove in Malibu that I take my friends to (it pays to know a Los Angeles local!)

Wednesday is my favorite day to play! I’d start at the Pleasure Chest – my favorite sex toy store in Los Angeles, and then enjoy food at one of the festive spots along Santa Monica blvd. (Zinqué, Norah, or Eveleigh are some of my favorites). We’d close the night out by heading over to The Abbey’s “Chapel” for their weekly lesbian dance party, and dance the night away!

Thursday we’d take it easy until night time where I’d take you to another local gem: Jumbos Clown Room, a dive bar with a live burlesque show that is truly top notch.

Friday we’d stay in, order some sushi from The Little Izakaya, and watch movies. I love staying in on a Friday night and going out during the weekdays (places can get too crowded on weekends). So Friday would be a delightful night in to close out the week!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be here without my family. They are unbelievably supportive of my work, and if you’ve ever come to a Pleasure Science event, you may have seen them volunteering! I also am so grateful for my best friends, whose support and guidance are sacred to me. Last, I’m also grateful for the support of the networking groups of queer, nonbinary, and women entrepreneurs that I am a part of, namely the Hello 7 Club and the Forward Female community.
