Hi Charnise Love, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

Embarking on what initially seemed like a straightforward endeavor, the creation of Love Jones Productions turned out to be a profound journey of self-discovery and unwavering determination. The genesis of this venture was rooted in an intrinsic knowing that I couldn’t ignore—an indescribable pull compelling me to bring forth something meaningful. Guided by an innate sense of purpose, I heeded Gods calling that resonates deep within me, and thus began my path as an entrepreneur.

As one steps into the realm of entrepreneurship, there’s an inherent innocence that accompanies the journey—a naivety that belies the true extent of the sacrifices and investments required to breathe life into a dream. The notion of counting the costs, both in terms of resources and personal dedication, often only fully reveals itself once the journey is underway. I too started with a modest vision, initially focusing on Love Jones Photography—an avenue that allowed me to capture fleeting moments, preserving them for longevity. Little did I foresee the evolution that awaited me, or the transformative shifts that would redefine my trajectory.

With each step, my voyage took on new dimensions. Initially, I confined myself to family gatherings, school events, and milestone celebrations. Gradually, I expanded into the world of senior portraits, community gatherings, and matrimonial celebrations—a realm where I excelled, yet sensed something was amiss. It was then that a realization arose within me—I was more than the sum of my photographic pursuits. An inclination towards film, seeded during my college years at Pacific Union College, enrolled in an introductory filmmaking course, began to develop. The potential for deeper impact as a producer and filmmaker unveiled itself before me.

The evolution of my creative journey is a narrative woven with twists, turns, and revelations. Reflecting upon it now, a smile accompanied by chuckles fill my being. From the modest aspirations that kindled my entrepreneurial spirit, to the expansive horizons of filmmaking that now beckon me, the journey underscores the power of heeding Gods internal calling on your life. Through a series of seemingly unrelated steps, I discovered my true love—a path that transcends capturing moments to crafting stories, engendering emotions, and touching lives through the medium of film. As Love Jones Productions moves forward, its roots remind me of the profound truth that inspiration, guided by Gods calling, has the power to transform not only businesses but also lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Navigating the creative realm engulfs one in a constant dance between the art itself and its reception by others. A relentless question mark looms: Will what I create resonate? Such doubts have haunted me, provoking a journey of continual refinement. Defining my artistic identity, orchestrating my presentation to the world, and honing in on my unique voice remain an ongoing quest. During this evolution, my proudest moments emerge when I capture the essence of my clients’ stories, encapsulating their experiences in a frame, making them feel profoundly seen and heard.

As the curator of shows, podcasts, and events, I find immense joy in unveiling fresh perspectives, breathing life into the visions others harbor. My journey into this realm, however, took intriguing twists. Post-college, a vacation in New York City unexpectedly became my entry point. Operating as Love Jones Photography, armed solely with my camera and an insatiable drive, I embarked on a journey that would lead to my “IN” to the industry. A serendipitous encounter with a production assistant during a Nestle commercial shoot marked the catalyst. Leveraging my elevator pitch, we exchanged contacts. A year later, that connection unfolded into an opportunity to work as a production assistant at the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey at the Prudential Center, igniting a chain reaction of doors swinging open to unveil promising avenues.

The road was far from smooth as I navigated the industry landscape. Navigating gig-to-gig, mentorless yet I pushed through, I carved a path toward my aspirations. Thirst for knowledge drove me to understand the industry’s evolving trends. I meticulously researched show directors, AD’s, etc. That I intentionally cultivated connections that would propelled me forward.

A tapestry of challenges was woven into my journey, being very inquisitive proved as my compass. Valuable lessons accrued—the importance of kindness and nurturing goodwill towards those who couldn’t give me an opportunity became my secret weapon, which illuminated unseen doors to be open.

I want people to know a heartbeat rooted in faith, Love Jones Productions epitomizes a brand for the people, founded by someone like them. Central to LJP, our ethos belief is that every voice and story matters, and our conviction to do what is right is driven by our unwavering connection to Jesus Christ that leads us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a planner at heart, I would make an itinerary where we would drive up along the coast to Malibu beach, a little past Geoffrey’s restaurant to sit and have a nice picnic. I would then take them to the Alameda night market on Main st in DTLA where there are amazing Mexican food vendors and the best dessert baker called Dee’s Babycakes. Afterwards, I would take them to Echo park to ride the swans, and I can’t forget planning a trip to experience the porsche race track.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My success would be nothing without God first and also the unwavering pillars of my cherished family, friends and mentors—the Joneses, Richardsons, Effiongs—alongside my beloved New Hope Ministries family, have poured into my life with an abundance that defies quantification. During moments of wavering faith and persistent self-doubt about the feasibility of this path, they gathered around me in loving support, that gave me a reminder that God’s faithfulness remains steadfast, and His promises endure without fail. The amalgamation of their encouragement they’ve shown me has served as a rock for me.

To my dearest friends, who have seamlessly transformed into sisters & brothers, your presence has been my refuge. As my sounding board and valiant prayer warriors during the trials of this journey, your unwavering friendship has been a lighthouse in my times of need. I firmly believe that God situates us precisely where He intends for us to be, orchestrating encounters with individuals of higher stature to illuminate the path He envisions for our lives.

Acknowledging my academic mentors, particularly Professor Michelle Rai from Pacific Union College, whose nurturing guidance fortified my confidence in public speaking, and Tim Torre, my film instructor—your pivotal role cannot be overstated. It was in your classrooms that the spark ignited, setting me on this transformative trajectory.

I am humbled by my village, a constellation of support that propels me forward. The boundless love and relentless backing they shower upon me serves as both an anchor and propelling force, compelling me to strive for excellence. My tribe’s unwavering belief in me fuels my ambition to ultimately reciprocate the generosity they’ve shown me.

A heartfelt gratitude, I extend my appreciation to each of you. To my parents I wouldn’t exist without you two birthing me out of love, to my siblings you all are out of this world, and I love you immensly, & last but not least to my WOLF PACK, we’ve been locked in since 1992! to everyone in my circle your indomitable faith, unwavering encouragement, and unyielding guidance, I am fortified to ascend to greater heights because of your love and prayers.
