Meet Jordaun | Photographer/Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordaun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordaun, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
When I talk about my business, Creative Hands Productions, I always tell the person that I am speaking to that I see and feel my business being a household name. When people turn on their favorite artist and watch their music video, I see my logo popping up at the end of it and the person watching smiling at the fact that it was me who directed it and they were apart of my journey when it was just a vision. I see groups of people from families to friends coming into one of my many locations and getting their pictures taken. I see individuals who have a photoshoot by themselves coming into my studio and enjoying their photoshoot experience. To make my business bigger than I have ever imagined is the end goal all while sharing my passion with others and doing what I love most. Until then, I am living in the presence of RIGHT NOW. I am just a one man band, but eventually I will need to work on building a team.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I capture the art of life through photography/videography. I am most excited about finally getting to accomplish bigger gigs after working at what I do for two years now. I got to where I am today by staying consistent and dedicated to my craft regardless of the bad times that occurred during my business journey. I made sure to always self promote and invest in myself. Getting to where I am today was not easy because some days I experienced so much support and some days I didn’t. When I first started running Creative Hands Productions, slow business often discouraged me. When business is slow, I take the time out to learn ways to advance within photography/videography, get my clientele up by promoting better, and so on. I use slow days productively and I do not let them get me down anymore. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that no one is OBLIGATED to support you and as sad as it is, it even applies to family and friends. Do not dwell on who is not giving you their support, pay attention to who IS. I want the world to know that one day Creative Hands Productions will be the biggest videography/photography company there is. I’m very passionate about what I do and I love it with everything in me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not one to go out a lot or hang out in the city, but the best clubs are in Hollywood. If I’m not eating a home cooked meal, I would prefer the Benhibachi truck on a late night, Bossa Nova, Ruth Chris, and so on. I tend to spend my time at the Pike in Long Beach and eat at a restaurant called Margaritas & Tacos. I also like walking the Shoreline Village.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I would like to thank God. Without God, I would not be where I am today. I would also like to give a major shoutout to my siblings. They always talk about how I impacted them as their big sister but they have no idea how much they impacted me. My siblings contributed to my growth in a major way and I always strived to work hard because I knew they were looking up to me. One of the very first photography companies I have ever worked for was Lifetouch as a school photographer. Lifetouch played a major role in filling me up with the knowledge I need for my own business outside of work so I will forever be grateful for the day I decided to apply and work for the company. I want to give a personal shout out to two coworkers I met during my journey at Lifetouch. First we have Diana Gonzalez (@dideeluxphotography). I remember always asking her questions about photography and her always answering whenever she could. She’s always taking the time out to support me and my craft. Next is Karen Mata (@moongoddessvisuals). I learn a lot from her every time we collab on photoshoots. Not only does she help me behind the camera but she helps me in front of the camera. She’s always giving me great advice, supporting me, and putting a boost in my confidence when it comes to photography and for that I thank her. Lastly, I thank everyone who’s been supportive of me over the course of two years. For everyone who supported me when I was giving photoshoots for free and came back even when I added a price.
Is it too much to thank myself? Because man am I proud of how far I’ve came. I’m grateful that I never gave up on myself no matter how hard things might’ve gotten for me. Shoutout to me.
