We had the good fortune of connecting with Roman Pervak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roman, what inspires you?
People are my biggest inspiration, their true feelings and emotions. Beautiful nature, music. Incredible light that outlines the contours. A dress that repeats the movements of the wind so beautifully. Sometimes all these factors are intertwined into a one whole scene and here it is – a very special shot!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since childhood, I had a vivid imagination, pictures, movies are drawn in my mind. I remember as a child I had a cassette with the music of A-ha, I could listen for hours with my eyes closed, and my imagination drown beautiful scenes. So photography was always very interesting for me. Shooting weddings for more than 10 years, people are still my biggest inspiration, their true feelings and emotions. Even at the beginning of my career, I learned one important lesson: do not consider yourself better than others. Having made an interesting and good shot, you think «Wow, I have reached such a level!», but time passes and you see that this shot is actually not something very outstanding. But if on this point you begin to believe that you have already reached the heights, your artistic growth stops. Although it would be possible to make hundreds of times cooler. So I guess, it was always important for me to not being afraid to do complicated and daring projects. This is the unequivocal engine of progress.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Getty Villa Artistic area at Abbot Kinney Blvd, definitely set time to check stylish local coffee places
South Broadway to feel the atmosphere of an old Los Angeles vibe

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate a shoutout to my wife, Kate – she is my biggest inspirer and the One who helps me to move forward!
