We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxwell David Marcus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maxwell, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?

Success is a process I think I am always striving for and it exists differently for everyone. For me, the most foundational level of success is to feel healthy; physically, mentally, and spiritually. Those all being so intertwined, I have found that certain habits nourish them simultaneously. When these habits are in alignment; then I feel most worthy and able to take on creative challenges in life and in art.

-Daily Breathwork has been a game changer for me since my years of professional wrestling. I prefer to do it every day. There are some great free guided breathwork videos on Youtube by Wim Hof.

-I try to be conscious of what I’m ingesting; A variety of nutrients is good for the gut; and the intelligence of the gut speaks to the brain. I also try to be conscious of the content that I ingest as well. I want to fill my mind with meaningful and interesting things that nourish my heart.

-Whether it’s Jiujitsu, weightlifting, boxing, jogging, sprinting, riding horses, animal movement work, stretching, dancing, whatever: I am always finding new ways to become in touch with my inner strength. To keep my body active and able to take on challenges in my life.

-Transcendental meditation gave me a massive kickstart to my life and acting journey in 2020 and I can’t recommend it enough. It signaled my body to heal through physical ailments that were holding me back and causing me pain; and it brought me to a place in my mind where I was living the life I wanted before it even happened; which brought me closer to it. We have the power to create a new reality for ourselves.

-For me, feeling of service is very important. I want to feel as if I am doing good for others and not just myself; I want to make a positive impact on lives. So I personally seek that out as much as I am able to.

-Lastly, The habit of nurturing meaningful relationships with one’s inner self, the people we love, the people who guide us, care for us, hope for us, learn from us; as well as the divine essence beyond our comprehensible experience, all build and guide us on our journeys.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Maxwell David Marcus and I’m an actor for stories; primarily film and television Shows. Before this, I was a pro wrestler. Flying through the air, lifting behemoths, crashing through tables, and more. I guess you could say I’d do anything to tell a powerful story.

I believe that storytelling is sacred; at its best it can change the world of a person or a collective in merely a moment; pushing us to the light.
I take pride in the work that I’ve done on the screen and the thorough preparation which I put into my performances. Countless days and hours of acting in self tapes, audition rooms, table reads and more.
I train day in and day out to be a capable instrument of my craft.
I recently took on the role of a decorated Texas Ranger for a TV episode; and the only way I felt I could honor that individual was to give it my all. Some of that looked like training on horseback early in the mornings or spending hours studying his history and dialect.
I make these journeys with intention, conviction, and deep respect.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If I had to give the dime tour of Hollywood, it would start with an early morning hike; up to the Griffith observatory. It may be cliché, but I love that little hike. I enjoy it often, especially when I have visitors or I’m in prep for a project.

I would then recommend the breakfast sandwich at a little place called “Locali” in Hollywood. It’s out of this world.

Then I would say let’s go to the Santa Monica Pier to work out on the beach; or if we wanted to relax, then Malibu it is.

Then Later on some top tier pizza can be found out ‘Nic’s On Beverly’ & ‘Gokoku’ in Burbank has the best vegan Sushi.

In the evening I would have to recommend Moe’s House of Axe for a fun social outing; My castmates and I usually enjoy a good Axe lob!

Those are most of my go-to activities here, but there are endless great foods to try and wonderful people to meet.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to My parents Abbe and Stephen for always supporting my dreams (even when I sound a bit ambitious), my sweet Tutu (Grandmother) who is patiently waiting for her Oscar, My inspiring partner Nia, and my strong sisters who shine so brightly that you’d need sunglasses! To all my wonderful family members and tribe who honor me with love; I thank you all infinitely for joining me along the journey; you know who you are and I stand with you always.
