Meet Daniel Figueiredo | Tv/Film Composer, entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Figueiredo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I think that balance is the secret for almost everything in life. We have to work, but if we work a lot we can have a burnout. It’s good to workout but if you go beyond your limits, you’ll get injured. Finding the right dose for everything we do is key to be able to do everything that we like and that we need to do to move on.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been doing a little bit of everything in the music world – composing, arranging, and producing. Over the years, I’ve crafted music scores for more than 20 TV series in Brazil, my home country, reaching audiences in over 150 countries. Some of my most notable works include the soundtracks for telenovelas like “The Mutants,” “Opposite Lives,” “The Law and The Crime,” “Joseph from Egypt,” “The Promised Land,” “Moses and the Ten Commandments,” and the ongoing series “Reis”.
Speaking of “Moses and the Ten Commandments,” it became a movie afterwards and achieved over 11 million viewers in theaters. Lately, I’ve been expanding my composition projects towards the American market, having score films such as “Transmigration,” “Dangerous Methods,” “Mental Way,” “Possessions,” “The Heartbreaker,” “Maneater,” and “Battle for Saipan.”
I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with international talents and have seen several of my albums nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards. “Leo Amuedo Plays Daniel Figueiredo” was nominated for “Best Instrumental Album,” and “Fruto de Amor” by Aline Barros and “Nosso Samba Tá na Rua” by Beth Carvalho won the Latin Grammy Awards in their respective categories. I also received some other awards throughout my career, including multiple wins for “Best Music Producer” and “Composer of the Year” at prestigious Brazilian awards ceremonies.
I’m really proud of my ongoing project, “Plays Daniel Figueiredo,” showcasing contemporary artists reinterpreting my songs in their unique styles. We’ve released eight albums and a couple of singles under this project so far. I’m also deeply passionate about my “Guitar Heroes” project, where I pay tribute to guitar players I admire. Collaborations with legends like Jeniffer Batten, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe, Larry Coryell, and Mike Stern have been incredibly fulfilling.
Besides music, I’m a co-founder and partner in companies like MusicSolution, Up-Tracks, and the owner of AudioXpression, Sounds of The Earth, XpandMusic, and XpandFilms. Through my label XpandMusic, I’ve released the album “Cello Stories,” the beginning of a long-term collaboration with the talented Colombian pianist Jesús Molina.
I’m also proud to endorse several reputable brands, including PreSonus, Blueberry, CME Pro, UVI, Wire Conex, LaBella Strings/Olinto Bass, PiGuitars, and Fractal Audio.
My journey in the world of music has been an incredible adventure, filled with creativity, collaboration, and a deep love for the art form. I look forward to continuing to share my music with the world and inspire others along the way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall. Great places to visit and experience some great music!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ana, my wife. We’ve been together for over 15 years now and I’ve been sharing this journey with her since then. We’ve been together celebrating good things, supporting each other on difficult moments. That’s why it’s so important to have the right companion for the life.
