Meet Dennis Diaz Michel | Restauranteur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dennis Diaz Michel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dennis, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
It’s thought me financial literacy. It’s thought me to think outside the box oppose to the 99% of society and how we are programmed to think. It’s given me options in life. You quickly learn a business is about relationship building and the relationships you keep. I’m able to install all this into my daughter and give her a different outlook/perspective on life

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Life is all about making something out of yourself! For most of us we start life employed fight to stand out and get the next promotion maybe switch jobs career in the process as you start understanding your worth/value! It’s crazy to think looking back that’s just the bare minimum of it! Starting a brand/business is seriously no joke! Discipline, grit, & more confidence than most is required when doing such a think and evolving! You learn there’s no cheat code or easy path to success and you have to endure failure in order to gain success! Life lessons make you a better person/entrepreneur but at the moment just can’t seem to understand why lol it’s crazy looking back on the come up and quite humbling to say the least. I started in the hospitality industry as a bus boy at 16 in a fine dining restaurant from there I jumped around til I found my nitch with the company I felt was for me and I will grow., I wasn’t wrong. With mastros steakhouse I worked various locations opened a few and grew/ developed my skills from the bottom to what I felt was the top for me as a corporate trainer for the company! I experienced and met so many cool people along the way from magic Johnson to Stevie wonder to Arnold the terminator to name a few! After time I became numb to the feeling of being star struck but always laugh to the fact that I had these icons in the same room as me no security no crowds of fans and I can ask or say something and get a reply from them. Miss those times not going to lie. But like anything I felt I needed more to life and deserved more as i daily looked back on my journey

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ll I’ll definitely use my industry plugs that I built in all my years in the industry! I would do Tatel Spanish bistro, catch LA or catch steak, mastros BH & Malibu , steak 48 for dinner. After dinner drinks at casa madera inside the Mondrian in weho late night drinks at Wally’s in BH. Day sight seeing/drinks at spire 73 in dtla inside the intercontinental with a 360 view of the city, Javier’s in century city for a late lunch and soho house Malibu for a chill exclusive vibe! For the nightlife poppy, night&Gale, & highlight room roof top! There’s also some cool spots in Newport Beach and Santa Bárbara to visit!!! These are all just a few spots to mention. Can’t forget any sports/concert events s/o my boy Frank with dodgers,,lakers, rams, etc plugs

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mastros Steakhouse and all those involved! It brought me many experiences and opened various doors for me to be able to walk through in the decade I spent with the company! My single mother as well with her grit, character, and hustle.
