Meet Drayton DeWitt | Recording Artist & Aspiring Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Drayton DeWitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Drayton, why did you pursue a creative career?
For me Creating is and option. For as long as I can remember creating has given me validation that I can make y that observers can appreciate. Being able to go from an inspiration to and complete work is satisfying for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a recording artist from Atlanta, heavily influenced by RnB of the past dating back to the 60’s. To be able to perform my own music gives me excitement. Balancing a full time job , life and my art was hectic but being able to share my gift makes it worth while. My story is a testament to anyone who is willing to grind and learn for their goals. Every day is a lesson and I’ve gone through many very frustrating loss along the way, such as lost friendships, bad business dealings and scams. But I walk with Jesus so believe everything happens for a reason

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m knew to California but I enjoyed visiting the beach. Walking or biking at the beach if a refreshing way to recoup from the week

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest support I must say come from my family, they support even if they can’t see the potential for success the way I do. I would like to shout out my friends, which I treat like family. Who always come out to shows and played my music even when I was just getting started. And lastly I would like to thank Take Off ATL and Safespace DTLA for giving me the space to shar and perfect my craft.
