Meet Kris FRANKLIN | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kris FRANKLIN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind creating the brand was to create a community and culture that represents people that look like me or that can relate to me. Being a black kid from Detroit, Michigan there isn’t a lot of opportunities that you come across, but art has always been apart of me. Family and community has always been a very important part of me as well and I want to relay that through my designs.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
MOOD LA is a unique fashion brand that sets itself apart through a commitment to bringing community together while also a focus on individual expression.
Our journey wasn’t easy. We faced challenges breaking into the fashion industry, but our passion and dedication kept us going. We overcame obstacles by staying true to our values and building a loyal community of customers who appreciate what the brand truly stands for.
The lessons we’ve learned include the importance of resilience, staying adaptable in a constantly changing market, and the power of connecting with our customers on a personal level.
We want the world to know that MOOD LA isn’t just a fashion brand; it’s a movement of lifestyle, conscious living, and individuality. Our story is one of determination, creativity, and the belief that fashion can be a force for good in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop after leaving the airport would be going to In-n-Out & getting a double double with animal fries & a strawberry shake. Afterwards, We would head down to Rodeo & do a lil shopping. Later on in the evening, we would head to Berri’s & have some Lobster Pizza. After dinner, head over to Ace Hotel for their rooftop event & enjoy good music, good vibes & drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother (Monique) she deserve all the credit to my success. She’s been my assistant, partner, Etc.. you name it she has been that for me in the dream I’ve been pursuing.
