We had the good fortune of connecting with Care Lue-Hing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Care, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’m all about risk-taking. That is how I grow. It’s all in how I go about taking the risk, though. I know for a fact that I am divinely protected, so any “risk” I take has already been calculated for me as it is up to me to complete the task.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The most impressive part about me is my will to get things done by myself (once I set my mind on it…I’m kind of stubborn that way lol). If I’m not sure how to do it, I will ALWAYS find a creative way. Ever since I was a young kid, I always wanted to live out in California as a professional dancer and creative. I lived in North Carolina and have literally moved my entire family across the country due to my accomplishments with dance. We first moved to Texas because I was awarded a scholarship as a pre-professional Jazz & Contemporary Trainee at The Joffrey School of Ballet in Texas. While located there, I danced for the Dallas Cowboys for about a year! Then it was time for college, so I moved to California and started my new journey here. Of course life has its challenges and none of it is easy if you want to push yourself to keep growing. One lesson that I noticed keeps appearing is that no one will have reason to believe in something until you believe in it so much so that you can show them. Then they can help you, but you have to see the vision first. I want the world to know that I see my vision and if they follow along with me through my rough moments, they will see my peaks understanding why I’ve done what I’ve done and do what I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This actually happened haha. Let me tell you about it. I am not 21 yet so I couldn’t go EVERYWHERE. I also don’t know how to drive so I couldn’t take her anywhere. We took public transportation together everywhere, which is not only the most economical way, but it’s also really fun to people watch. It can get dangerous at times, but danger is everywhere. We caught sunrise at Santa Monica Pier, went to Black on the Block (a cultural experience of black owned businesses/vendors supporting black creativity amongst food trucks, a live dj, and a huge dance space where once a month, the entirely of black LA gets together and celebrates each other all day long), and went down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which is actually really dirty and scary sometimes. We ate at Johnny Rockets in Hollywood (one of my personal favs), Fixins Soul Kitchen (where I used to work…their service is fast and the food is bomb), and Pot of Cha (my favorite boba joint in LA). We took the metro to Leimert Park and Inglewood to try new places and found Stuff I Eat, a great vegan joint in Inglewood and Nappily Naturals & Apothecary in Leimert, an all natural health focused shop, where I ended up getting this really cool incense burner that resembles a genie lamp. That’s pretty much it. I know that when I turn 21, I will be able to enjoy a lot more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Man, everyone who has been strategically placed in my life for either positive or “negative”, long or short periods of my life deserves a shoutout. Whether it be the preschool that I attended, my dance school that I grew up in, or the various teachers that I have had throughout my life, I believe that everyone deserves a shoutout. I take absolutely NONE of it for granted. Also, my most special shoutout would have to go to my mother, brother, grandmother, and father. They believed in my wackiness since the beginning and they only encouraged my creativity which helped me to be the person I am today.
