We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Reach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Since I was a little girl, my favorite hobbies have been completing large puzzles and reading mystery novels. After completing my Master of Science Degree in Chemistry at the University of Alabama, I moved across the country to Southern California for graduate school in dance at the University of California, Irvine. Since the arts and sciences are typically thought to be polar opposites, I understand my educational pursuits can be both a puzzle and a mystery. My love of dance started at an early age with a regard for classical music. To this day, music and dance continue to play a large role in my life. My appreciation of chemistry started with a love of math, and later magnified through my fascination with molecules and chemical reactions. Both the arts and sciences share imagination and creativity in their foundation.

One of my core memories is that even though my dad owned a small business, he never missed a dance show, piano or violin recital, or school performance. I observed my dad and paternal grandparents work diligently in their individual small businesses, and I always felt inspired by their work ethic and passion for the community. Other family members greatly influenced me as educators, mentors, mental health professionals, and volunteers. I hold onto the memories of my childhood as I mentor the students in my business with hopes that a small-town girl from Alabama will continue her family legacy and positively impact her students to reach their academic and artistic dreams.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started The Reach Method in order to help students reach their goals in every element. Using my rigorous and extensive educational background, I implement proven study methods for tutoring success. I also use technical and anatomical methods for dance to help students grow in their abilities and confidence. I am most proud of my positive approach to teaching. I truly believe I am the person I am today because of the special mentors who believed in my unique path and encouraged me to strive for excellence. Using joy and kindness, I focus on the positive attributes of my students, while helping and guiding them through my methods. Many of my clients utilize academic tutoring and private dance lessons, which builds their overall confidence and helps me to better understand their individual approaches to learning. With personalized tutoring sessions in chemistry and math, private dance lessons in ballet and contemporary, college mentorship programs, and standardized test preparation, there are so many opportunities available with The Reach Method to help any individual, no matter their level, to become their best self. I am excited to have a role in building the next generation of young artists and scholars. Based on my current work, the future is so bright!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel incredibly blessed to live in Southern California. I would ask my best friend to visit over the summer months where the world-renowned Pageant of the Masters recreates famous works of art in a unique outdoor theatre. A week with a best friend would give us the opportunity to visit all my favorite coffee shops and ocean views. We would start our mornings at a local coffee shop like Jedidiah Coffee and head to Heisler Park. After a walk through the park, we would drive down Pacific Coast Highway for lunch at the iconic Shake Shack in Crystal Cove. After lunch, I would take her to Fill for mochi donuts and coffee at Moon Goat for a game of cribbage. The weekend would include the local farmers’ market in Laguna Beach and an inspirational message at Mariners Church, Irvine. The following day we would go to Sidecar donuts and walk Newport Bay at Castaways Park. Driving further north to Huntington Beach, we would shop at Pacific City, walk along the pier, and watch the sunset before grabbing dinner in Laguna Beach at South of Nicks. After dinner, we would enjoy Gelato Paradiso while taking in the beautiful local art and shops downtown. With the breathtaking ocean views, incredible cuisine, talented art, and amazing community, Orange County is the perfect place to host friends and family.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Recognition is a beautiful word and today it belongs to all the kind and supportive people I have met in California. I traveled across the United States to focus on my Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance, and I was gifted with so much more. I have found that the old saying “home is where the heart is” stands true. My heart has been blessed to have the chance to go to work everyday and be surrounded by what I now consider “my California family.”
