We had the good fortune of connecting with Arisha Povolotskaia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arisha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
By establishing my own business, I knew I could have the creative freedom and flexibility to bring my vision to life. Being able to provide a tailored, one-on-one experience, I wanted to offer every person a chance to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, resulting in truly authentic and stunning portraits!
Although, the journey of starting my own business has been challenging, I have to admit it is deeply rewarding, as it has allowed me to connect with different people, discover new styles and find friends.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a very versatile photographer. I absolutely cannot settle for one style! I love different types of shoots. I love taking portraits, do couples sessions, boudoir, families and I also love music photography! Taking pictures of music bands. I love experimenting, exploring different styles, using different gear. Then there’s fashion, I’m so very excited to step into editorial world! I would say the one of the most challenging things I find as an artist is not to compare myself to other artists. Their style, their marketing, their success. It’s great to get inspired by them but it’s hard sometimes not to slip into this rabbit hole of self doubt. So one would have to be careful and keep going in their own direction.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love LA! It’s probably just a little more versatile than I am lol. There’s something for everyone for sure! I would take them to Downtown, show them its beautiful architecture, Art Deco and historical places. I personally love art and I live sharing my knowledge with others, so we would definitely go to Getty Center AND Villa (with a stop to enjoy Malibu beach), LACMA and Norton Simon museum (it’s a gem!). I’m not very much into restaurants or bars, but I would take them to my friend’s bar The Liberties of Dublin! And you know, just show them around! I would love them to experience this city as I do!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout to every person I’ve met on my journey. YOU made an impact. Every client, every model, everyone who recommends me deserves a recognition, they always will be a part of my story.
