We had the good fortune of connecting with William Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi William, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Anyone can record a conversation in their kitchen on their phone, but producing a polished podcast can be a full-time job. Especially when you are producing it yourself. From concept and research to writing and recording to editing and promoting, there are no shortcuts around it, and few days off. But you get out of it what you put into it, so you put in the work.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Not everyone loves True Crime. And through the years, both Elise and I — separately — often found it difficult to reconcile romantic relationships with our individual need for bedtime stories about murder. So when we began dating, and discovered our mutual love for the macabre, it was only natural for us to focus that energy into a podcast. Especially since we both come with strong backgrounds in performance and storytelling as professional actors, writers, and directors. We felt that with our specific talents and strengths…we were in a unique position to research, write, and deliver compelling stories for likeminded people. We’re not serial killers ourselves, though. Promise.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. Magic Mountain: the best roller coasters in the country.
2. Venice Beach for people watching.
3. Avoid Hollywood and Highland, unless you wanna be harassed by an overweight Spider-Man.
4. Everyone should see a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, though.
5. The Broad, The Getty, and LACMA are all world-class museums, but don’t sleep on the Museum of Death either.
6. And it doesn’t matter where else in the country you are from, our Mexican food is better.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This one is easy. No chance that any of this happens without my amazing, talented, and stunning co-host and producer, Elise Buedel. Period. Our podcast is our creation, and she is the engine that makes it go.
