Meet Sara Anbar | Content Creator & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Anbar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue a creative career because it is what I constantly found myself gravitating towards ever since I was a kid. Growing up I was always an expressive goofy kid who loved recording videos, creating skits, recreating movie scenes, doing dances, or simply just talking to the camera. I always enjoyed making my family laugh. I would constantly put on little improvised shows for them and they found me equally funny and annoying because I literally would not stop haha. But I was definitely an entertaining child. In my teens I started using dance as my creative expression and was part of the dance team in high school. Performing in front of hundreds of people made me realize how much I loved showcasing my creativity to others. As a young adult, I pursued acting for a while and starred in a couple commercials and short films before I then started focusing on content creation and exploring different sides of that. I just always knew I thrived in this realm of creativity and would love to make a career out of it. Luckily, we now live in a generation where it is possible to express yourself in various creative ways and connect with people all around the world at any time who share similar interests as you and enjoy your content. I love that I am able to express myself through my creative interests on social media and I treat my social media accounts almost as a memory book or portfolio of my life. I use my TikTok to post more social content such as getting ready with me, lip-syncing, mini vlogs, skits, dances, and overall personality-based content for entertainment and relatability purposes, whereas my Instagram is focused more on my modeling projects and lifestyle. Even if there were no such thing as having followers or career opportunities through social media content, I would still post because the idea of having my favorite moments organized in a little app is really special. I find it so cool that every profile has a different vibe and aesthetic that shows the uniqueness of each individual and their brand. Sometimes when I’m feeling a creative block, I stalk my own pages and it motivates me because it makes me realize and remember all the cool things I’ve accomplished and pushes me to keep doing more. I want to keep inspiring myself by growing and developing my content and accomplishments. Modeling also interested me because I enjoy trying out new looks and themes and then capturing them to create something really cool. I especially enjoy shoots where I get to cosplay unique looks because I love playing different characters and stepping outside myself. All these different aspects are what made me know I want to pursue a creative career because it just felt right to me from the start.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What keeps me busy professionally is creating content for my social media platforms, finding creative projects to work on such as commercial work and brand collaborations, paid partnerships, and connecting with photographers and videographers for my modeling work. On Instagram, my content is more focused on my modeling projects and lifestyle, while my TikTok page reveals more of my engaging personality through my videos. I enjoy exploring different sides of myself on social media and seeing what works best for me. I am definitely proud of building my own platform and connecting with supporters from all over the world. It is so fulfilling to see my recognition grow, leading to my first brand deal and earnings from the time and effort invested in my content. Stepping into the modeling industry as someone who is 5’1 has its challenges, but I’m proud of all the cool photoshoots I got to be a part of. Coming from Toronto, with dreams of diving into the entertainment industry hub in Los Angeles, achieving my goal of having my first photo and video shoot in LA felt like a significant milestone as well. I am excited to travel more, do more shoots, and collaborate with more creators. I am also excited to explore more sides of my content as I plan to showcase my personality more, livestream more, and post more comedic content where I can show my funny goofy side whether through skits or other forms of content, instead of just focusing on beauty and lifestyle. With that, I then plan to get more brand deals and opportunities and turn my passion for content creation into a full-time career and get signed with a modeling agency. I plan to also dive back into acting since I do miss being part of that which I’m excited about.
My journey definitely taught me how important it is to have self-belief and step outside your comfort zone. There were many times when I had a project or opportunity that I thought I couldn’t do or might mess up, but I pushed myself out of my comfort zone because I knew this was what I wanted and I decided to just use my vision and passion as a form of confidence and just go for it which always turned out for the best. Having that self-belief and going through with it helped me learn a lot about my capabilities and how much I am able to achieve on my own. For example, when I first started social media, I was a bit hesitant and nervous to do so but then decided to just do it since I knew it was something that had always been on my mind. From there I decided I wanted to focus on building myself and my platform on social media and make that my own personal business. I ended up getting my first hundred-dollar cheque just from posting on YouTube which made me even more proud than the thousands of dollars I was making working for companies I didn’t enjoy because this time it was money I made from doing my own thing and chasing my own passions. Some of my best memories and achievements have been from completing tasks that I was originally nervous or doubtful about. Especially the fact that I do deal with anxiety a lot of the time and living by this value always helps me push through it and remember who I am and what I am capable of. Even if something does not go the way you expect, at least you pushed yourself to try and you learn and grow from it which is very important when wanting to be a successful individual. With my brand and story, I want people to feel inspired, put a smile on their faces, and be able to connect with others who relate to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in the Greater Toronto Area and I think my favorite places worth seeing when visiting would be Downtown Toronto, Blue Mountain, and Niagara Falls. During our time in Toronto, I would definitely find a concert to take my best friend to because I am someone who loves music and is always going to concerts and events happening downtown. The nice thing about Toronto is there’s usually always something going on and a lot of cool restaurants to check out. After the concert, I would also take them to a rooftop patio overlooking the gorgeous views of the iconic CN tower and have a great time with great food and vibes. I would also take a boat ride to Toronto Island which has a lot of cool things to see and do and not to mention the view overlooking the skyline of downtown Toronto while on the boat is a must-see. I also love museums and animals so I would take them to either the Royal Ontario Museum or Toronto’s Ripley’s Aquarium which is a very large beautiful aquarium in the heart of downtown Toronto and honestly one of my favorite places there. They also host jazz nights once a month there which is really cool to experience since it gives off an under-the-sea type of vibe. I would also try to include something interactive like an escape room, candle making, paint nights, or really anything where we could get creative and have our minds stimulated. After Toronto, I would drive to Niagara Falls since it’s all kinds of fun there from seeing the amazing falls to walking through Clifton Hill and engaging in all the different activities, events, and parties there. I would then end the week off by driving a little further away to Blue Mountain which is usually at its peak during the wintertime since there are a lot of winter activities to do. For those who played Club Penguin as kids, that is the vibe Blue Mountain gives which I am all here for haha. My favorite thing there though is the Scandinavian Spa which is so gorgeous and very relaxing. I think it would be a great way to unwind after a long week!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my dad. My dad recently passed away which has been really hard on me, but I am so glad I got to have him as my dad because he definitely is someone who shaped me into the person I am today and someone who deserves some credit and recognition in my story. He was the most creative person I have ever met which really inspired me to want to explore my own creative skills. He also taught me how there’s so much more to a movie, song, or picture than what just meets the eye. He was always fascinated by movies, music, and capturing moments on his camera through photos and videos. He would constantly show me his favorite movies and repeat his favorite scenes and make sure I really paid attention to every message portrayed in a movie and really took in the plot and appreciated the acting being done. He would also constantly show me his favorite artists and music videos and make me take in the story behind each song or video. All this always made me appreciate these films, songs, and the talent behind them so much more and inspired me so much more. We would always try recreating our favorite movie scenes and recording them on our own whether it was a skit or a dance. We had so much fun creating content together and just expressing ourselves through our creativity and really appreciating art in all its different forms and using that to motivate us in life. When I decided to go into acting, I was nervous to share that with my parents, but I decided to tell my dad. He was the first person I told, and he ended up being extremely supportive and excited. He expressed how he always dreamt of being an actor but how it was not even something to consider with how and where he grew up. He expressed to me his journey into the engineering field, a path he chose only to satisfy his father’s wishes. With both his parents now gone, he realized he built a career just to impress and validate those who were no longer part of his life. He hated engineering and realized he was not going to find success in something he had no passion or interest in. He decided to recap on what did interest him, which was business and entrepreneurship, so he did that instead and succeeded in it while also maintaining his creative side which I was really proud of him for. He made it clear to me to always follow my passions and not to ever do anything for other people or even for him because when these people are gone, you are the one who will be living your life not them. So, from there I always decided to do what made me happy and create my own vision, follow my own path of success in my career, and not focus on any limitations around me.
