We had the good fortune of connecting with Cat Ce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cat, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
With time passing by, I learned to keep myself in the more balanced life and career mode. Understanding the perspectives of life, it can help you more focus on your career. The success of career and happiness of life rely on each other, along with keeping the healthy relationship in your work place and life. As we’re living in a society with so much impact from the relationship you developed and grew over the years. You can learn the true meaning of success from dealing with other relationship in life and keep the balance of your true happiness. The search of success and happiness is also the exploration of looking for the balance in life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a standup comedian and actress, performing arts is big part of my life growing up. Seeing my standup sets to bring people happiness, bring them laughter is highlight of my career. I want to continue writing better jokes, better scripts to create comedy & drama telling stories. They say comedy comes from tragedy, learning to find the jokes in sad situation, to see the light in bad situation, is a great skill to master. It’s also a hard skill to master. While I grow more in my life experience, I learned to navigate the way of writing better jokes. Hope to bring those jokes to the stage, to entertain the audience from all walk of life. So much pain, obstacles and failures in this career path, I learned to embrace the failures and imperfections with more open heart and mind. There’s so many mountains to climb in this highly competitive industry. From writing to performing, you gotta to focus. Standup comedy is about your own voice. Creating my own brand as an Asian American female comedian and the young generation comedian, I understand the importance of craft of art to stay true to myself. Creating my own brand as a hyphenate comedian, influencer and actress, I try to bring my unique story-telling skill, social-media, filmmaking and comedy performance combined into my brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ll take my friend to hang out on Melrose checking out the shops and some fun coffee shops there. At night, we’ll go down on sunset, checking out some iconic comedy clubs on sunset.
We’ll hit on some hiking trails in Hollywood, the valley and my fav hiking trails are eaton canyon in Pasadena.
Since we’ll be in Pasadena, we’ll for sure go to my home club -the ice house comedy club to see some comedy shows.
go to some authentic Asian restaurants in San Gabriel Valley.
In weekends I’ll take my BFF cruise on PCH, hang out at the beach in Malibu, go to Nobu have some Sushi.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give shoutout to the comedy clubs that believe in me giving me the opportunity to be on their stage. One is my home club – the legendary ice house comedy club in Pasadena. Making people laugh is an honor. I want to shout out to all the people who came out to my shows, to let me entertain you. I want to give shoutout to the fellow comedians or peers who are not trying to compete me, just being a great colleague to collaborate with me. I want to give shoutout to all the amazing friends who are always there during my ups and downs.
