Meet Tiffany Nguyen | Photographer & Dentist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me, the most important factor behind the success of my brand is that I put myself out there and share my personal experiences and adventures. I think others can relate to my story and live vicariously through my adventures and hopefully I can inspire them to go on their own adventures.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my work apart from others is the storytelling aspect of my art. When I’m sharing my photos and videos, I’m sharing my perspective of the world. I really strive to bring the audience into the scene with me so they feel like they’re right there experiencing what I’m experiencing when they’re looking at my work. I’m a self taught photographer and videographer and I’m really proud of how much I’ve learned without any formal education. And now I have the opportunity to teach others what I’ve learned and it’s really a fulfilling process. My journey as a photographer wasn’t a traditional one. I left my career as a dentist working at my family’s dental practice to pursue photography and it wasn’t an easy decision. Making the decision to switch careers was an easy decision, but leaving the family business was not. I’ve learned that it’s ok to veer from the straight line path to pursue other opportunities. Saying yes to one opportunity might open many doors to new ones and you just have to trust your instincts. I want the world to be able to relate to me story and feel inspired to follow their passions. Sometimes you just have to follow your heart and pursue what you think is best at that given time. You also don’t always need formal training to become a professional at your job. Putting yourself out there and putting in the time and effort is sometimes all you need.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently live in Los Angeles and there’s so much to do here. I also love that we’re not too far from the beach, ocean, or desert. We’re lucky enough to say we truly have it all here. If my friend was visiting for a week, I’d take them to a few of my favorite local spots and then spend a few days on a short road trip. Some spots I’d add to my list are: Manhattan Beach Pier, Downtown LA, Quartersheets Pizza, Bavel, El Flamin Taco, Laguna Beach, Joshua Tree, and Yosemite National Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot to the community for supporting me from day 1 when photography was just a hobby for me. The constant support of my audience on social media and my peers in the industry definitely pushes me to keep creating and sharing my art.
