Hi Urna, what makes you happy? Why?
Finding order and control within my work, especially in the dynamic environment of the film industry, brings me immense joy. Staying busy and engaged is crucial for me, and I find deep fulfillment in every aspect of my work, from planning to visualizing the final product. It is incredibly rewarding to utilize my skills and abilities to bring a project to life. Beyond the technical aspects, proving my abilities and exceeding expectations is also a personal challenge that motivates me to continually improve and perfect my skills. On top of that, the thrill of traveling for work, whether within the US, Japan, or China, adds an exciting layer to my career. Ultimately, my happiness is rooted in a sense of accomplishment, good mental and physical health, and the immense pride I feel when witnessing a project come to life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My passion lies in the realm of artsy indie films. This genre allows me to explore the depths of human emotions and delve into narratives that challenge conventional norms. What sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to realizing the visions of others. For me, the art of producing goes beyond logistics and administration. It is about nurturing creative visions, collaborating with talented individuals, and translating dreams from paper to reality. Witnessing a project from the conceptual stage transforms to a tangible reality through my work is a truly magical process.

My professional journey has been filled with its fair share of challenges, but overcoming them has been a crucial part of my growth. The lessons I have learned along the way have shaped me both personally and professionally, constantly reminding me of the critical importance of collaboration, communication, and adaptability. These qualities are essential tools in the ever-changing film industry. As a producer, my aim is to identify and nurture unique artistic voices. I want my work to stand as a testament to the power of storytelling and its ability to connect us all on a deeper level.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Having spent almost a decade in New York City, it definitely holds a special place in my heart. Its diverse cultural landscape is something I deeply appreciate, and I would love to share my favorite spots with my best friends if they ever visit. Since food plays a huge part in my life, we would dedicate a significant portion of our time exploring the vibrant Asian food scene in Elmhurst and Flushing. From Taiwanese dumplings to Cantonese dim sum and Thai cuisines, the culinary possibilities are just endless.
We would also immerse ourselves in the city’s artistic soul, starting with the magnificent Metropolitan Museum of Art. Its vast collection from various historical periods and cultural backgrounds offers an enriching journey through the history of art. We would then head to the MoMA, where modern and contemporary art provide a fresh perspective and stimulate new ideas and interpretations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The unwavering support and love of my mother and grandmother have shaped me into the person I am today. They fostered my sense of wonder and opened my eyes to the beauty of the world. Growing up in Mongolia with them instilled in me resilience and a deep connection to nature. Later, my mother’s courage in moving to Japan during my high school years provided me with valuable life lessons and broadened my horizons. I am eternally grateful for their constant presence and belief in my dreams.
