We had the good fortune of connecting with KrissyLuv and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KrissyLuv, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Embracing risk is the essence of life itself. I find joy in the excitement of seizing opportunities, whether they result in failure or success. If we look at anyone who has been successful, they have all taken risks. I have found the most challenging aspect of taking risks was stepping out of my comfort zone, showing up and trying new things even when I was scared to do so. I have failed so many times but I keep getting wiser with every risk.

I took a huge risk a few years ago when I quit my job of 16 years that I truly loved to follow my passion. I was scared at first like frightened of how I would survive and take care of my daughter and myself. I was making really good money but I realized time is more important and if I would have not taken that risk I would have never realized that. Taking risks has led my business and myself to valuable experiences and learning opportunities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In the realm of entertainment, our variety show stands as a beacon of uniqueness and excellence. What sets us apart is not just the dazzling performances on the shows cypher segment called “MCTreo ” or the interviews with weird questions on our segment ‘’The Hook Up” we also have Ms. Krissy is the 70 year old version of me, still single but grumpy, hard of hearing, flaunting around like she is still young.

The variety show idea came because I grew up during the 70’s The Variety show era. I used to watch shows such as American Bandstand, Soul Train, The Carol Burnett show. This gave me the idea to incorporate some comedy with interviews and some skits.

The Plug Radio LA prides themself on presenting a diverse array of acts that captivate, inspire, and leave a lasting impression. Each person we bring on the show has a story to tell. Our slogan is “Real People, Real Stories”. I wanted to do more than basic interviews and take the show outside the box. Even though we are called a radio show we go beyond that, visually putting an entire show together.

The journey has been anything but easy. Challenges are always met head-on, and obstacles we always view as opportunities for growth. Through the trials, we’ve learned valuable lessons about resilience, teamwork, and the importance of staying true to our artistic vision.

What I’m most proud of and excited about is the community we’ve built around our brand. It’s not just about the performances; it’s about creating an environment where creativity flourishes, and everyone involved feels a sense of belonging. The collective energy and synergy among our team, performers, and audience contribute to the magic of our show. When we shoot the show we shoot the show! It is a networking event. I bring people together at my house with a full menu of great food and make sure each guest sits down together to eat, connect and build partnerships.

I love connecting people together. That is how the show started from me working at one of the top entertainment schools for years where I was able to meet so many great people in every aspect of entertainment. I just met so many cool people and wanted those cool people to meet more cool people so I started to connect people together and help them get work, life advice and make lasting friendships. From there people started to call me “The Plug” and I decided to tell all these interesting stories of people I met from all walks of life. A student at the time told me I should interview people so I called the show “The Plug Radio LA” and we were born.

I really enjoy and love people. We are unique and everyone is interesting in their own way. I want to tell people’s stories to encourage others and help them grow in life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have an absolute fondness for Los Angeles – a city with a vibrant and diverse array of offerings that caters to the interests of just about anyone. Having spent my entire life here, born in Hollywood, CA, I’ve lived all over the city and continue to discover little pockets that make it truly special.

If I had a friend in town for a week, we would embark on what my daughter and I refer to as our “little adventures” around the city. We would indulge in breakfast, lunch, and dinner at new and exciting spots, with a particular desire to finally experience the renowned Bestia, known for its exceptional Italian cuisine. Other eateries would include Toast, El Coyote, The Ivy, Yamashiro and Norms for breakfast.

Our week-long escapade would also involve exploring the beautiful beaches of Orange County, a definite stop at Laguna Beach – a personal favorite for its breathtaking coastal beauty. For some retail therapy, we would venture into shopping havens like Westfield Fox Hills, Del Amo, and Northridge.

To unwind and recharge, we would treat ourselves to massages at one of LA’s Korean spas and Burke Williams. Of course, a visit to Universal Studios for some entertainment and a hike in the scenic surroundings are on the agenda. We would also catch a movie and just catch up at home hanging by the pool. For my personal enjoyment, hitting the gym would be a must at least a few days out of the week.

I would also have to pull up on some producer/artist friends for a studio jam session. And as the week concludes, I would add a different kind of thrill – a trip to Las Vegas for some gambling, catching shows, and engaging in a bit of shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the bustling rhythm of life, my daughter stands as the cornerstone of my existence. From day one, she has been my source of motivation, keeping me on my toes. She is my everything. Every hurdle I overcome, is driven by the fierce determination to provide her with a life even more enriched than my own. Her wisdom, despite her youth, is a guiding light in my decisions. I find solace in her advice and the connection we share. In her, I see not just a daughter but a source of strength, resilience, and endless inspiration. Without Kyla, my journey would lack purpose, and my achievements would lose their luster.
