Meet Parish Walker | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Parish Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Parish, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me, art has always been a source of healing. I’ve learned so much about the world, especially myself through art & I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s experienced thought provoking & life changing wisdom from a film, music, poetry etc. I really wanted to be that positive source for someone else & shed light on those living in darkness. You never really know what someone is going through & I truly believe Art is the outlet to release those things we’ve been silently battling. Let’s heal together!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what elevated me forward the most was simply going after what I wanted despite the self doubt or outside negative projection. I quit my job because I was called by the most high to do so. I had no back up job other than freelancing & I hustled nonstop. Although I had to dedicate a little more time to finances I was so much happier where I was. In four short months I was blessed with the opportunity to work at the Walt Disney Company & I can honestly say I would have never gone for it if I stayed at my former place of employment. Now I get payed to do something I love & have the freedom to be myself. I know growth can come from struggle but you should never just live in struggle with the idea that a blessing will eventually come. Remember, faith without works is dead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend that was visiting we would visit places like little Tokyo for amazing Japanese dishes, Brunch at the Broken Yolk Cafe or Pann’s. I love classy dinners so I would definitely take them to Catch LA or Tao. Always have to sprinkle some art into the adventure so I would take them to the Getty, the museum of illusion, LACMA ETC. of course Venice beach where artists thrive. For a more clean and relaxing view we’d hit up Malibu or Newport Beach. Shopping at the LA fashion district is a must! & of course can’t forget about the happiest place on earth. We’d spend time at both Disney California Adventures & Disneyland park for the most magical time!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my friend/Fam/Business partner Juwan AKA JDouble C for the inspiration, encouragement, & discipline he possesses. He never hesitates to include me in his endeavors & he’s always looking to advance his work. So raw, so real, & just one of the dopest people I know. We have a new project coming next year that I’m beyond excited about, so stay tuned! We’ve been working on it with an amazingly talented engineer who’m I can’t thank enough for constantly pushing me out of my comfort zone. The biggest shoutout to Maine, YOU’RE UNDEFEATED!!!
