We had the good fortune of connecting with mQx and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi mQx, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to embark on an artistic career because, ever since I was a child, I’ve always been surrounded by a family with a strong artistic bent. I was trained in all forms of art, painting, cinema, music… it built me up in a way. I was never good at science or business at school, but the only field in which I had any skills was art. After my studies, I had the chance to work as a photographer and then continued in the art world to end up at mQx.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For me, my art is one of the things I’m most proud of. I always told myself that I was going to succeed when I was younger, that belief weakened over the years but has come back with a vengeance lately. The only problem was that I didn’t know how I was going to succeed. Today, I’m only at the beginning of my career and it would be far too premature to say that I’ve succeeded in my art, of course, but for me I’ve succeeded in a way, in the sense that I’ve finally found a domain that I love, where I’m the only one in charge, and a domain where I think I can make a difference. Art is a very competitive environment, but I think that if you’ve got your thing, you can make a difference. All you have to do is never give up, believe in it more than anyone else and pray.
Today I feel quite satisfied with my art, I know that the road is long and that I’m still going to evolve in my domain, but simply by looking back 6 months ago I find that my margin of progress has greatly evolved, I think today I’ve really found my universe, I must continue in this direction and above all never stop.

Of course, it hasn’t always been easy. I’m 24 today, but I think it took me too long to find my way. This thing that I love to do every day, that fills me with joy, this thing that I contemplate. I don’t know if I’ve found a vision, a concept that’s unique in the world, maybe not, but in any case I’m satisfied with what I do.
Also, through my art, I’ve never really had the intention of making people understand anything, or anything at all. When I started out, I just always wanted to make something beautiful, and I think it’s very important to make art beautiful. In the same way, I’ve never wanted people to know too much about me, and I think it’s preferable for the public to be satisfied with my art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Having only been to Los Angeles once for about ten days, the place I personally enjoyed the most and where I’d take someone is Beverly Hills for sure. I don’t know why I love this place, it’s probably because of GTA, I’ve played too much of this game…

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my career, I think it’s important to thank my family, who have always pushed me to develop my artistic side as far back as I can remember. More recently, my brother, with who I’ve also had the chance to work on these cinematographic projects, deserves to be mentioned. We’re very close and we support each other in our projects, and it’s very important for me to keep this link!
Finally, if I had to mention two people from the art community, I’d start with Hajime Sorayama. His art has greatly inspired me in recent years, and I think he’s succeeded in creating beautiful and timeless pieces.
Secondly, the other person who has greatly inspired my work would be Ridley Scott’s for Blade Runner. This film is clearly in my top 3. I love everything about it, but particularly the universe, which I adore and which has helped me enormously in my artistic direction.
