We had the good fortune of connecting with Luotong Zeng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luotong, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Every decision I made growing up was my own choice. My parents will give me a lot of support and encouragement, but they will never interfere with my choices. I think parents are the most important part in giving encouragement to their children, but not interfering too much in their choices. I think this is very important.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think I am full of exploration spirit for beautiful things. Whether it is fashion design, tattoo culture, or various artistic creations such as ceramics, I am full of curiosity. I hope I can continue to create and learn in the future. Of course, I also feel a lot of obstacles on my way to learning art. Sometimes my inspiration dries up and I feel like nothing I do is good enough. But I believe that if we keep a positive attitude and stick to the things we love, the universe will guide us. I also hope that others can feel this kind of power through my works.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in New York now, and I think New York itself is a city full of possibilities. I thought I would invite my friends to Central Park to enjoy the sunshine and have a cup of coffee. We can also go to the cinema to watch an old movie. There are also many interesting bookstores here. In the evening, we can go to interesting bars to enjoy the New York nightlife.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
During my academic journey, my graduation project tutor Jens Kaeumle helped me a lot. He gave me a lot of advice and guidance while I was studying fashion design. He always encouraged me when I felt stressed or wanted to give up. I am very grateful to have met such a good professor during my final year of graduation project. The encouragement he gave me makes me believe that I can go further in the future. After I moved to New York, I met a person who means a lot to me in my life. He is my current boss. Terrence Zhou, founder of Bad Binch Tong Tong. I learned about his passion for creation, his love for life, and how every day at his job was full of challenges but fun. He told me to believe in the power of the universe and he will lead us into a wonderful world.
