We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalah Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalah, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Freedom. Freedom speaks to me from a place of remembering. As a child I was so free. I used to roam through the woods in upstate New York for hours, and just get lost in the moment. I find freedom to be a great resource from which I continue to be of service, and continue to pursue my inspiration. I have no need for a plan, I simply long to be. In this I feel free, and from that I remember that I have choice and I get to create my reality. Freedom in important not just for the individual, but for the cultural collective. Freedom sparks abundance, it truly is a way of relating to the world in which sovereignty and interdependency get to dance together. My freedom is connected to your freedom. None of us can truly be free until we are all free. So freedom connects me to community. It connects me to the land and the animals, the oceans, and the rivers. Freedom is a great force that when embodied reminds us to steward ourselves and each other. It is a great connector, and a great teacher in unconditional love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art lies in creating spaces for erotic liberation and expression. I combine my genius for connection and my love for freedom to host events of the erotic and psychedelic kind. I also create private personally curated experiences for individuals, couples, and small groups. I find it to be one of my most satisfying and nourishing creations. To see, and be seen. To express, and connect, to make love which is natural and organic be a homecoming for all. I find that these spaces provide safe sanctuary for those who have always been curious to explore their sexuality, and their erotic prowess.

It has been a long road to get here. I started my own practice seven years ago in 2017. I have been on a journey ever since. The entire seven years, to today, I am guided by my intuition and trust. I’ve had to develop so much trust in myself and my practice. It has not been easy, yet it has been incredibly rewarding. To start from nothing, literally, and still be here alive fed and housed, I think is a great success. I have yet to reach any sort of financial stability, yet my needs are always met. So I keep going.

I’ve overcome challenges by prioritizing my mental, physical, and emotional health. By prioritizing community and investing in loving relationships. Myself, and my people have carried me through the hard times, and celebrated the good times. I am loved and that is the truest wealth I have gained in this process of becoming free. I’ve learned that even when I’m not sure how I will pay my rent, I know that I can pray, I know that I can create something from nothing, I know that I can trust myself and others to still be here loving me. It’s everything to have that type of internal and communal support. I am proud of us, and I’m proud of myself.

I would like the world to know that liberation is possible, that orgasmic bliss, and sex positive community is present and here. I would like for people to know that unconditional love is the only way we will be set free, and that in our loving we get to come home to ourselves and each other. In creating access points of erotic liberation through my service, I find that most people are really craving connection, touch, and community. We are worthy of returning to each other, we are worthy of this deep nourishment, rest, and care. I really look forward to continuing this path of liberation and finding erotic playtime with beloveds of all walks.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I am quite nomadic so depends where I am. Let’s say NYC because I frequent there often…

I would take them walking. What I love about New York is that people are out! You can walk for miles, enjoying the smells, sounds, and visuals of the city. The diversity of people, foods, art, fashion, culture, it’s all in New York. What I love is walking around and popping into unexpected cafes, shops, and eateries. You will surely stumble upon something fabulous, by simply following an unknown path through the city. I highly recommend catching some theatre while in New York, and attending a five rhythms dance class (the Friday Morning class at St Marks church is the best!). I would also recommend going to Bath Haus in Williamsburg for a full day steam, sauna experience. They have a great restaurant as well, with a great Wagu beef plate. Yum! There is truly no other city like New York. Follow your heart, and let the city move you.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well this is a somewhat long list…I would start with my Mother, for she carried me in her womb for 7.5 months (I was a premature baby). My Mother also raised me on her own, as a single mom, a massive feat. I would also love to thank my friend Dana Regan of 26 years. She was the one seven years ago that invited me to start sharing myself, and my work with the world. I haven’t looked back sense. I would like to thank my friend and collegue Teku, founder of the Uncertain Futures Institute (UFI) https://www.uncertainfutures.cc/. Teku has been alongside me on my path for over a year now, and I am honored to call him my brother. My teachers Sarah of Magdalene and Amber Ryan. Both of these women are walking in such integrity and truth, true inspirations incarnate. I have many others who are here in support and love for me. My beloveds in NYC, Mexico City, and Costa Rica. You know who you are. Last but not lease the black queer leaders and feminists who have influenced my work, Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde, Harriet Tubman, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, James Baldwin, Adrienne Maree Brown (author of Pleasure Activism), the beautiful black kinfolk who’s lineage, and calls to freedom have shaped a movement of liberation so wide, that I have space to be free today. Sending you all so much love.
