We asked insiders and experts from various industries to tell us something they think outsiders are unaware of and we’ve shared a few of those responses below.

Sonia Kazarova | Grammy Nominated Artist

As entertainers, storytellers and artists we have the unique opportunity to bring a new voice and perspective to the world through the stores we craft and the way in which we express them. . After losing my voice for eight years I was forced to learn to use so much more than my voice. I worked as an actor, a stand up comedian, and even taught martial arts.. one day my teacher and Mentor Milton Katselas insisted that return to training my voice like I did when I was wining. So I did just that and within a few weeks I had regained my voice at full strength and was hired to play Tosca – in the title role of Puccini’s Opera. It was a miracle, but I hadn’t realized the true value of my road back to singing. I had become an Artist with a point of view and perspective unique to all that I was influenced by and had experienced. The result was invigorating! I was on fire and after something profound. I had gained the certainty I needed to create and perform the stories I had been dreaming about all my life. I was so excited to tell other artists about what I had discovered.,to work and collaborate with these great artists through moving and transformative stories. I was finally able to regain the sound I was after, and through it all had become a much more complete artist capable of shining light from within and on others. In every aspect of my industry there are other stories of discovery like this where we are asked to fit a mold. There is only one unique you, an individual that will never happen again. This uniqueness is what we need from each other. This journey happens to all of us. Some figure it out earlier than others. This is the work, finding what matters to us and to foraging a way to bring it to light. Read more>>

Rachel Lorraine | Painter, Poet, Self Portrait Photographer

I don’t have a team generated behind me to execute my visions and then I take my place sitting pretty at the top of the cake, which is pretty clear I currently create solo; but much modern societal artistry looks like this; a large team effort in most aspects with one or two chosen faces. It’s the system, the process, the game and seems most general public is unaware of the machinery at play. Ghost writers/ghost painters/ghost vocalists/ghost creatives etc etc, exist. Read more>>

Jordan Palani | Singer Songwriter | PopStar

The amount of “WORK” it really takes to be an artist. This day and age you gotta have more than just a good singing voice. You have to look the part. You’ve gotta be consistent. You have to be able to be a social media person and have to have a story. I work out everyday. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy working out, but the driving factor for me is that I have to keep a good physique for my look. Whether I am on stage or in photos and videos I have to look like a POPSTAR. Every day i’m posting on social media and trying to build my fan base and create a network of people to buy into “Jordan Palani” and everything I have to offer. Then on top of all that I am working on music. I’m learning how to engineers and produce. I am writing and recording songs EVERYDAY. it’s so much more than just singing. I’m not the GREATEST singer yet, but I’m still training my voice and putting in the reps. I also think people are unaware of how much money plays a factor in being an artist. Especially as somebody who is independent without a investor or label backing the costs of expenses. You need to spend money in the music industry unless somehow someway you are able to record, mix, master, producer, film, edit, promote, and publish your own music (THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT). Otherwise you’ve got to outsource and get help in some of these areas where it takes money in order to get high quality sound and video. Read more>>
