We had the good fortune of connecting with Javoe Rôkour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Javoe, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started in the music business it was all from the love of the music I never thought of starting all the businesses I have now. Eventually after being in the game it was only right to properly elevate to that next level. After consulting thousands of artists I wanted to create an all-in-one place for artists to learn the information they need to successfully navigate through the music industry effectively. So I created an ecosystem within my businesses for artists to thrive.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
While coming up in the game I was very aware of everything that was always happening around me. My biggest focus was figuring out what were the true steps to making an artist successful in the music industry. I got my start in 2014 and have been on a journey ever since. I have been through many phases in my career from starting as a DJ/producer to a manager and becoming a professional music marketer. When I turned 21 I moved to ATL with a group of artists and another manager. After awhile one by one the artists would go back to our hometown and not come back. Eventually it was just me there by myself. I wanted to be successful so badly nothing would make me go back to my hometown. I ended up meeting an artist that was from the A and we worked together for around 4 years. During that 4 years we were very successful reaching over 20M streams across all platforms and even getting a single deal from a major label. Although we were finding success in music for a very long time I was homeless and sleeping in my car while living in Atlanta. I eventually secured a top tier mentor who also is a highly respected music manager. As his assistant we locked in a few acts including Asian Doll and Quality Controls Layton Greene. However when we first started working with Layton she wasn’t signed to QC yet. Watching her grow into the successful act she is today was important for my ultimate goal of seeing what it takes to get an artist on. Eventually my mentor Prophet and the QC team came to an agreement and Layton became the very first R&B artist signed to Quality Control the label. It was a wild time because I would have these incredible successful experiences but because I didn’t have enough credit and I never had a “real job” I didn’t have any credentials to get into an apartment even if I could afford it. Eventually my marketing business became more successful due to the resources and connections I was gaining and it was able to support me enough to reach the credentials I needed to get an apartment in Atlanta. That wasn’t until 2018. When the shutdown came my marketing business went through the roof and I was able to start leveraging the money I was making to start an official business, this is when I created Rokour LLC. I have had the ability to market some of the biggest singles and albums of the past decade which has given me unique insight to how records and sales are truly made and promoted. This lead me to ultimately creating my artist academy and community, taking everything I learned from all my experiences and putting in a concise platform that artists can leverage to put them in better positions. I created a community for independent artists to have the ability to learn, collaborate and build their fanbases in a real way rapidly! I have been providing artists with up-to-date courses and resources since 2019 on my website RokourdingAcademy.com. Now I’m focusing on closing the gap between independent and major artists by providing a valuable community full of resources and a supportive platform to feature the members of my academy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best place in the city is every Thursday we throw mastermind sessions, everyone motivated and focused is invited. It is a private event so it doesn’t get the wrong people but anyone who wants more for themself is invited and can reach out to me for more information. Our events are held at prestigious locations around Hollywood usually in private penthouses or in the hills.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My team “the high society”. We are comprised of highly motivated young men who have all agreed to focus on achieving our goals and help each other along the way. As well as our weekly mastermind sessions every Thursday in Hollywood. I created an event that allows brilliant minds to come together and exchange resources and ideas, which has been the backbone of my success while living in Los Angeles.
