We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlin Seager and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caitlin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I opened The Vocal Shed, NY back in 2019 in the Lower East Side, Manhattan, where I have lived for the past fifteen years. It’s a music studio specifically curated for singers. I wanted to offer not just voice technique training, but also opportunities for songwriting, music production, recording, artist development, setting up live performances, record releases and many more.

My goal was to provide a comprehensive and supportive environment that would help singers grow and take the next steps in their careers. I have a deep fascination and curiosity for the human voice and its potential for expression and well-being. Singers, with their unique qualities, openness, and vulnerability, inspire me, and as a deeply creative individual I genuinely love helping artists develop their vision.

By offering a range of services and support, I aim to nurture well-rounded artists who can confidently pursue their musical aspirations and receive the guidance and resources they need to thrive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At The Vocal Shed, NY, we understand the profound impact of music on our lives. We firmly believe that music is more than just a form of entertainment; it is a transformative force that can help us live in the present, release tensions, and express our emotions. It brings people together, forges lasting memories, and creates deep bonds between humans.

As someone who has personally experienced the incredible benefits of music, I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this industry. However, I also recognize the challenges that come with pursuing a career in music. It requires dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment. That’s why I am proud to offer support to fellow artists in their journey.

Through our vocal training and songwriting & production services, we aim to create a positive impact on your life. We offer guidance, resources, and a supportive community to help you navigate the challenges of the music industry and find greater fulfillment, quality and excellence in your musical pursuits.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I like my neighborhood, the Lower East Side. I love walking around with no specific destination in mind and then randomly stoping somewhere for a bite or for a drink. During the summer, Id have to take them to the beach. It’s one of my favorite things about NY, you can just hop on the subway or the ferry and get to the ocean. Most of my friends are musicians and play often around the city, so I’d make sure to catch a show or two.
