We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Anokwuru and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by a multitude of things in life. Where do I begin? I’ve always been a great dancer since the age of being born lol but it led me to singing, acting & more. I would say music, art & culture inspires me. I was born in New York & I’ve always been expressive when it come to my speech. When I was in highschool, you can see me on the speech & debate team. It gave me energy to tackle specific topics, to conjure up different conversation perspectives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting my artist/influencer journey has not been easy but fun. I remember posting my first 50 videos & gaining no views, then one day, my videos started going viral. I’ve consistently been seen on the #fyp page & even been placed on world star hip hop. I always told myself to stay consistent & never give up. Now I’ve created multiple strings of income through social media. You can see my main page if you Google #hothoku. “ My personality is one of a kind. “

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in the city to hang out is Cru Lounge, in downtown Houston’. I would say I have a favorite food spot but you can catch me at the Cheese Cake Factory. I recommend you explore the food truck market that’s in Houston.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shout out to my team @hiphopmeetsedm for setting this up for me & helping pave the way. We have been doing a numerous of great, community projects. I look forward to seeing what the future has to come.
