We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Sainz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I would say that the end goal is to be able to live by and for art, to be able to explore as many characters, stories, worlds, and periods as possible, and to one day look back in time, to when I was a little girl watching the big screen, and tell her that we made it.

My dream is to make things that matter, things that inspire others and myself, to connect with the world beautifully, with humanity, and with my soul. I know it may sound superficial, but I would love to leave a mark in the world, to be able to portray different emotions, moments, and situations, that would help someone to open their heart, maybe heal, and find a purpose, we should all understand that we´re all here together in this big blue sphere, that everyone has a roll. that there are no big dreams as long as you follow your heart and believe in yourself.

The end goal is to feel fulfilled and to be in love with myself, and with my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional journey hasn´t been easy, it´s been filled with ups and downs; since I was little I knew I wanted to do it, but my parents made me believe it was not durable, and that I wasn´t talented enough in order to do it professionally, so I left it as a pipe dream. During my life I tried to find my passion, the thing that made my heart beat faster, in different things like plastic arts, cooking and baking, fashion design, and interior design, I even went to university to study the entertainment business, but every single time it felt like something wasn´t right, like something was missing.

After trying different things I knew that my life was not going to feel fulfilled till I tried what I thought I wanted, even at that moment, acting was out of the map, so I decided to pursue a singing career, don´t get me wrong, I love singing and I also love doing other things, but when I went to an acting class for the first time (because I wanted to improve my performance while singing), everything made sense, it felt like fireworks, eating your favorite cake or dancing to your favorite song. It was at that moment when I knew what I wanted to do no matter what.

Once I started following my heart, the paths started to open up, one day I was auditioning for Stella Adler NYC, and the next thing I know is that I moved to LA to study a professional acting conservatory, I graduated two years ago, for sure school is not like real life, real life is harsh, acting for a living is hard and painful, but I know that I wanna try till I make it.

I´ve been on some projects, some small, some big, but not that big, and it´s been so fulfilling, every experience is unique in its own way, beautiful, and has made me grow as an actor, I´ve learned that the key is to surround yourself of magical people and pay attention to what they have to teach you, because everyone is so majestically unique, so rich and beautiful, that you learn a different thing from each one of them.

I don´t know where my career is going or when is it going to end, but as long as I´m alive I´m excited to see what can I achieve, how much can I overcome and how far can I go. I guess the secret is to never let anything steal the magic, that even if there are a hundred “no´s” maybe the hundred one is a “yes”. I just promise myself, that as long as I´m alive and there is a will, I will make that little girl’s dream come true.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm, I had never thought of having a lil itinerary for when someone comes to visit, but I always take them to my favorite places, during the day I love going to the Grove and the Farmers Market, there´s something about that place that I just simply love, one of my favorite activities is going there on the weekends, when they have live music, Downtown during the day is another place that I love, walking down the streets, going to the Broad, the Central Market, the Bradbury building, just walking and appreciating the architecture, makes me feel like I´m in NYC, the Venice canals are beautiful too, the Getty villa or a picnic in Malibu.

During the night I would go to the Griffith Observatory, which I think is magical there during the night, the Mulholland Drive, LACMA, and maybe I´m crazy, but the Santa Monica Pier on a weekend night, makes me happy, all the lights and the live music and art that are happening around, makes me feel like a little child.

My favorite restaurant so far is L´antica Pizzeria da Michelle´s, would go for drinks on a rooftop to enjoy the view, and probably would take them to party in WeHo, I think that is something that everyone who wants to have an LA nighttime experience should go.

Disney, Universal, and the Warner Bros tour are amazing too, but wouldn´t be on the top of my list.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents, especially my Mom; are the ones who made me fall in love with art, I remember the weekends in my house, usually on Sundays my Mom or Dad would wake us up with music, and later in the day we would watch a movie or sometimes go to museums or the theatre; my Mom is an amazing painter, she´s been always so connected with her creativity, that ever since I was little, she inspired me to connect with that part of myself.

My Dad was a huge cinephile, some of the moments that I keep closer to my heart are movie nights, we would choose a movie, sometimes buy pizza and make popcorn, and we would lie down in the TV room, sharing that with him, was amazing, seeing all the emotions he would experience while watching the movie was inspiring; my Dad wasn´t expressive at all, but for some reason, when he was listening to music, or watching a movie, his eyes, his face, were super expressive, and that´s one of the reasons why I fell in love with art, because when you do it from your heart, you connect with people in another level, levels that you can´t even imagine.

Even though they didn´t like the idea of me becoming an actress at first, when I chose to become one, they were super supportive. My Mom has pushed me on so many levels, she always tells me that she knows that I´m capable of big things, but I just have to believe in myself, she´s my biggest cheerleader, and also my biggest inspiration; sometimes I feel like giving up, but she´s there, ready to hold my hand and walk with me, she has shown me that everything is possible, and there is always a way.
