Meet Seth Holborow | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Seth Holborow and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Seth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my business in photography was an idea one day where I thought to myself: Why take photos just for myself when I can take photos for others? I had always enjoyed taking photos of everything that caught my attention ever since I was young and sharing them with friends and family. I then started to jump into it about 2017 where I picked up a camera, started to market, build relationships with other photographers and people, and finally got my LLC to help protect and promote my company.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am excited to continue in photography and meet new people and hear other’s stories from where they started if I’m working with models or how a car build has come together and the further plans if I’m working with someone’s vehicle. It was not always an easy path getting to where I am now, it was rather slow in the beginning but the persistence, vision on the long term goal, and the support I had along the way has helped me get to where I am today. The biggest challenges I feel in photography is the comment: I have a phone why do I need photos done with a camera? This is where I have learned to challenge these and have comparison photos showing the quality changes and help back the portfolio. The other challenge, not everyone is looking to pay prices or they have a friend who can do it cheeper, which not everyone will book, but there are plenty of people who will. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to know your worth. People will pay money for quality content, don’t sacrifice yourself to settle someone else’s wants. Things I want my readers to know: Know your worth, know who supports you, remember who supported you when you were learning not just at the top.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sightseeing and exploring bring me inspiration and new ideas to create. Getaway places I enjoy Elysian Park in LA, it has a beautiful view of the city without the interruption of traffic or anything, TK Burgers in Huntington Beach is always a great spot to stop to grab a bite to eat and enjoying the cliffside views and waves crashing the coast in Corona Del Mar are sights to enjoy and relax, take an escape from everything. Los Angelas has a ton of different events, people, and places to go there is always something to see or something to do. If you’re looking for it, chances are you won’t have to travel far
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jumping out and shouting out to who helped me make the leap into starting a business with my photography and getting me behind a professional grade camera is my high school best friend, Landen. I was first introduced to being behind a DSLR Camera with his help, showing me the ropes and photographing football games and events, since then its been a spiral of investing in gear, reaching out to people and making new connections and memories. Him and I will still go out pursuing our passion of photography to this day. Along the way my family, fiancé and friends have been ever so supportive of my journey learning new styles, new gear and helping to support by sharing my photos and brand with others looking for photographers or networking.
