Meet Jess Tims | Certified Fertility Doula

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Tims and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jess, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing that many people don’t know about fertility services is the lack of support couples have when navigating hard topics like infertility, pregnancy loss, IVF or adoption. Couples typically meet with their physician and fertility specialists, but there is little to no support for the mental and emotional toll that the process takes. While many of us can imagine the struggle that infertility causes, our current systems fail to support couples beyond the medical needs.
What should our readers know about your business?
As a certified Fertility Doula, I support couples who are ready to get and stay pregnant. I have a background in holistic health and fertility support, and understand first-hand the challenges couples face when trying to conceive. It took me over two years to get pregnant and my experience led me to this beautiful work.
I provide clients with the guidance and resources to get to the root cause of their infertility. When I was trying to get pregnant, I tried everything that I read online, but nothing seemed to work. It was out my own frustration that I dove into the research on hormone health, holistic living, and emotional blocks to discover that all of these elements need to be aligned in order to conceive.
I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of parenthood. My mission is to empower couples with knowledge, support, and personalized care to help then achieve their dream of starting a family. I want couples to know that they are not alone in their infertility and that support is available.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Long Beach and being out in the sunshine! My perfect day would be to ride bikes down the bike path and grab ice cream by the Aquarium of the Pacific. After taking a walk to see the boats (and hopefully a sea lion playing in the water), I would ride back to have lunch at 2nd & PCH to enjoy the views and do a little shopping. The rest of the week would include a trip to the El Dorado Nature Center to get in touch with Mother Nature, a trip to Retro Row on 4th street to find the perfect hidden gem of a gift to take home, and a stop at BYO Long Beach. There are not many places where you can refill or get your hands on sustainable supplies and BYO Long Beach has it all. To end the trip, I would take a yoga class at Yoga 108, a place to relax and rejuvenate inside their beautiful studio, and eat across the street at Ammatoli, my current favorite spot!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give a huge shoutout to my mentor, Lisa Douthit, who encouraged me to just start somewhere. Without her encouragement, I would still be thinking of this business only in my mind, but never would have put anything into action. I also could not be doing this work without the support of my husband, Josh. My business grew from our story of infertility and I am grateful that he is open and willing to share our experience with others, so that they can be supported on their infertility journey.
