Meet Ian Carlos Crawford | Podcaster & Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Carlos Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ian Carlos, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I really wanted to be able to do something I enjoyed – I genuinely wasn’t sure I’d ever make money off of it but I needed an outlet to create with and talk to other like minded folks.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally, I consider myself as still trying to get there. My podcast, Slayerfest 98, is still not a huge source of income but I actually started it as a way to talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer with other queer nerds like me – and at first it was just a side thing but now it’s become my baby. I cover anything and everything I enjoy and it’s been really difficult getting to where I am and knowing how to do everything as a solo creator. It’s also help me branch out with a horror podcast I do with my friend Zach called My Bloody Judy. I’ve absolutely learned how much even something that’s yours is the combined effort of everyone who has ever helped. I would not be where I am without the support of so many folks.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In LA, I will usually go to places like Hi-Tops or Mickey’s with friends. I love WeHo, hoenstly – having all the gay bras in one spot is so convenient for a fun night out of bar hopping. I also love going to restaurants around that area (RIP Pump).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been really lucky to have the support of a lot of different folks like author Adam Sass, author Kiersten White, YouTuber Zachary Patton Garcia, writer Philip Ellis, moderator Dana Piccoli, and performer Ryan Houlihan.
