We had the good fortune of connecting with Shahin Studios and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shahin, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting our own business stemmed from a desire to fill a gap we saw in the creative industry. As artists ourselves, we knew we could offer something unique and compelling to global cultural, commercial, and private clients..

From logo design to album covers and merch design, we were creating artwork that resonate with our clients’ target audiences . However, we soon realized that our ideas were often too ambitious for traditional production methods. This led us to explore alternative approaches, such as crafting our own tools and mixing our own pigments to achieve mesmerizing effects.

For instance, our signature custom glow-in-the-dark paint is considered one of the brightest in the world, and our holographic ink adds an extra dimension to our designs. Additionally, we ventured into custom 3D printing on paper, allowing us to create intricate textures and details previously unseen in traditional printing methods.

Through self-teaching and mastering these skills, we were able to combine our efforts and offer a comprehensive suite of services under one roof. From design conceptualization to printing and production, and even installation, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional museum-quality and craftsmanship at every step of the process.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Shahin Studios our expertise lies in bringing creative visions and skilled craftsmanship to life through various artistic mediums. Starting off our studio in Alexandria, Egypt and now based in Los Angeles,

Marwan Shahin is our in-house renowned artist and creative director, With over 20 years of experience working
with some of the biggest names in music and entertainment industry on various mediums including graphic design, illustrations, album covers, interior design to branding.

Honda Shahin is an innovative master print maker, Fine art printmaking became a huge part of our practice at Shahin Studios. We always strive to experiment with different mediums and materials to create mesmerizing print editions, we specializes in serigraph silkscreen printing, offering a platform for artists and brands to express themselves uniquely. Through our meticulous craftsmanship, we strive to produce merchandise and apparel that not only look stunning but also resonate with authenticity and artistic integrity.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We work closely with artists to translate their work into fine art prints, or merch preserving the essence of their vision while ensuring the highest quality output. Our commitment to detail and artistic expression shines through in every piece we produce.

Firstly, our deep understanding of branding has allowed us to craft compelling visual identities for diverse clients. From logo design to comprehensive brand guidelines, we excel in capturing the essence of each brand and communicating it effectively across various touchpoints. My advice for those starting their journey is to immerse themselves in branding principles, understand the power of storytelling, and continuously refine their visual communication skills.

Secondly, our mastery in printmaking has been pivotal in bringing creative visions to life. Through meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality, we produce stunning fine art prints that resonate with audiences. For aspiring printmakers, I recommend honing technical skills, experimenting with different techniques and materials, and seeking inspiration from both traditional and contemporary artists.

Lastly, our expertise in mural painting has allowed us to transform ordinary spaces into captivating works of art. With a keen eye for composition, color theory, and storytelling, we create murals that leave a lasting impact on communities. To those embarking on their mural painting journey, I advise practicing on various surfaces, studying the work of renowned muralists, and embracing opportunities to collaborate with local communities.

By cultivating these qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge, aspiring artists can set themselves on a path towards success and fulfillment in their creative endeavors.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If any of our friends are visiting Los Angeles, I would undoubtedly invite them to go see Gotham Follies 1939 at the Montalban Theatre opening this summer, its a love letter to vaudeville, burlesque, parody… and Batman! a beautiful show that we proudly worked on.

We’d invite them t0 visit Shahin Studios, where art, creativity, and community converge. I would invite my friend to immerse themselves in the dynamic atmosphere of our studio, which is more than just a workshop—it’s an art gallery, a clothing store, and a hub for artistic expression.

We frequently host engaging events like pop-ups and print reveal parties, providing an opportunity for visitors to witness our artistic process firsthand. They would have the chance to explore our diverse range of creations, from captivating prints to unique clothing pieces. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, specifically in the vibrant Echo Park area, our studio encapsulates the essence of the city’s artistic spirit

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Special shoutout to Daelen Cory of L’esprance Design, who became a very close friend to us and exceptional design expertise has elevated our projects to new heights. His keen eye and dedication to excellence have been instrumental in bringing our artistic vision to life.

We’ve been also serving as the artistic directors for the Montalban Theatre. which has provided a platform for artists like myself to showcase our work and engage with the vibrant artistic community in Hollywood. We’re honored to have had the opportunity to create merchandise and paint a mural with my brother for such a historic venue, thanks to their unwavering support, and Ariya Behjat of Axenic has artistic insight and collaborative spirit have enriched our creative endeavors.
