Meet Gustavo Katz | Events and live entertainment manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gustavo Katz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gustavo, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. That’s the arts capital of my country. I was surrounded by inspiring music, films and theater all over, from TV, school and even weekends activities with my family. That big mix made me have a special eye for the Arts and a passion for everything creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since I was a kid I knew I was going to do arts. Just wasn’t sure how. I tried it all, acting, singing, advertising, but I found my happiness in the backstage. Managing all the moving parts to put on an amazing show it’s what moves me and makes me get up every morning.
Getting to a manager and trust role wasn’t easy. I had the pleasure and opportunity to learn with some of the best professionals in the world. They inspired me not only to do my art but on how to treat people and face problems.
The pandemic was also a challenge where us, live entertainment professionals were the first ones to stop and the last ones to get back on. That made me discover how flexible and diverse I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Everyone who comes here I have to take them to WeHo. There’s where I find the best bars, restaurants and clubs. Interesting people all over the place from happy hour to after parties!
They have to visit Santa Monica and the pier, Hollywood is a classic and the park below the sign is a must see. My secret spot is the rooftop parking at the Grove. I love that view.
They can’t miss Universal and the WB studios tour. It’s a great experiences for anyone that loves movies and TV shows.
I’d sometimes take them to a day trip to Santa Barbara, the views from US1 are JAWDROPPING!
I will also check if there’s any interesting concert happening, Hollywood bowl is my favorite venue. It’s an experience you won find anywhere else.
Finnaly we will go shopping. With many options from century city mall, rodeo or citadel outlets are great options. Worth the visit to the Grove and Americana in Glendale.
Don’t miss : In n out, pink hot dog, sugarfish, Korean BBQ in ktown, TAO and great Thai restaurants in Thai town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definetly my family, my friends and specially some of my former coworkers that inspired me on my journey.
