We had the good fortune of connecting with Khelly B and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khelly, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Why did I pursue an artistic career? It kinda picked me if I’m being honest. Music has always been something I used to express myself or get me through a day. Since a young age whether it was playing the drums at choir rehearsal wit mom or singing and rapping in front of the tv like I was Mike or Snoop Dogg. It’s always been something about music that has kept me in and around it. Then transferring from Westchester to Hamilton was the icing on the cake for me cause I was finally around like minded people who did music in they spare time and for hobbies.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other artist ? Well aside from my versatility I would have to say the fact that I don’t try to be anybody other than myself. You can tell with the music I make, i want everything to sound good from the production to the vocals. I make music that I know I would listen to and in doing so it’s translated because others love listening. Getting to this point took some time for sure and I’m still climbing trying to figure out everything’. I’ve had to sacrifice some friendships, relationships, and all to get to where I am . So a lesson I have learned is stay the course and fall in love with the journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m taking my bestfriend out in the city for a good time. We have to hit a few brunch spots like Coffee Company , The Court Cafe ,The Griddle, and Of Course Roscoe’s . Definitely going to have to take my bestfriend to a few beach strips along the coast so she can get that authentic LA experiences.
Definitely hit a couple malls and what not to make sure the drip is bleedin when we step on the scene
At playhouse , melody’s , Sam’s club , ace , good batch , VIP Bar & Lounge .
You know real LA shit . And before she left I would make sure we took a walk through Leimert Park so she can see the culture

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely want to give a Shoutout to my Circle. The amount of confidence they instill in me on the daily is one of the many things I can never thank them enough for. They give me extra motivation to take the next step forward cause letting them down isn’t an option.
