We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Knoche and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My podcast initially started with the name Mrs to Ms. I started it because I had just gotten divorced and I was now out in the real world of dating. it was completely different than anything i’d ever done. I started with the dating apps and I quickly learned that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I started telling my crazy dating stories to friends and family and they thought they were hilarious. They were so intrigued by the stories. They suggested that I write a book to share my stories with other men and women in the same spot in their lives. But I did’nt feel that a book would convey the stories as they should be told so I decided to start a podcast.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well it’s been a bit of a journey. I started my career in the mortgage business by circling an add in the paper back in 2000. I started out as a receptionist for a small mortgage company and after doing that for a year, I was trained on processing mortgage loans. I learned every facet of the business. I worked my way up the ladder to most recently being a Mortgage Loan Processing Manager for a Region. I’ve recently been reminded at what a volatile business the Mortgage industry is and unfortunately I was laid off from my position in December. But what I’m most proud of is how I’ve turned lemons into lemonade. I didn’t look at the layoff as a failure or as a reason to sit and cry every day, I looked at it as an opportunity to do something I truly love and have passion and desire for. I have always loved anything to do with entertainment and being a voice out in the world. This is why I started my podcast, so I could feed that side of me. So now I look at this as an opportunity to try something new, to find a reason to never go back to mortgage and most importantly to feed my passion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although I’ve only lived here a few years, these are the best places in California that I’ve personally discovered:

The Beaches – each one has something to offer. I would start with Santa Monica Beach and take my friend to the little shops in the area and the Santa Monica Pier.

Getty Museum – I have not yet personally gone to this museum but am dying to, heard it’s overwhelming but super fun and so I’d want to experience that

Huntington Beach – They have my favorite pizza “Grimaldi’s Pizza”. We would stop and have pizza and then head to the beach there.

Monterrey and go to the Monterrey Aquarium. It’s massive and so many amazing creatures to look at.

I’d take her to my favorite Italian restaurant in Woodland Hills called HOM

I’d also take her for a fun night out at Granville restaurant and then head over to Firefly in Studio City for a fun hangout with music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout to my amazing boys Hunter and Grant. They have been and are always supportive of me in every endeavor. They push me to stay consistent and just keep going and they are always super proud of their mama!
