We had the good fortune of connecting with Unorganized Home and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Unorganized, how do you think about risk?
The fun part about our job is that every day is different. Every client, every space, every situation. And when things are different all the time that means we can’t be afraid to try new things. Risk is that possibility that we could fail when we try new things like starting a business but honestly, the idea of not attempting the tetris game at all seems pretty boring. If you don’t jump, how will you know how wonderful it feels for the net to catch you? For the faith to kick in? It’s exhilarating.

It’s not always easy to see the reward or the grand finale but we think that’s because what we expect to come is not actually what the end goal is. We may expect a million dollars or the best client a team could ask for but what you actually get is years of memories and best friends that you can’t ever thank enough for believing in you in the first place.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We think what sets us apart is that there are three of us. Three personalities, three visions and three different people that come with their own set of skills. Our brains are much more efficient together in starting a brand and organizing a home. When we talk about excitement, it’s hard to not think about our clients and all the memories we make from them. We are lucky enough that we get to leave our mark on every single space we are in, and that means a lot to us. Getting to create a tailored flow that fits the exact needs of a client allows us to make an immediate impact on their day to day lives.

The logistics of starting Unorganized Home came with a lot of work, it’s never easy. However, making the choice to do so was a no brainer for us. There are so many possibilities and directions we can go in with our business that anything tough makes it totally worth it. In fact, we would attribute the solution to each challenge to the respect we have for one another and the belief we have in Unorganized Home. A lesson we learn in every job is to try to have fun every step of the way and trust that the right clients will come.

The most important thing that we want people to know about us is that we have been working together for 7 years and through those years not only has our friendship grown but we laugh pretty much all day. It’s a real delight!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Where to even begin? We have lots of suggestions mostly on the East Side because that’s where we all live, but Jordan legit used to be a tour guide in New York City, so he loves giving advice on where to go!

Day 1: Start your day at Canyon coffee on Echo Park Boulevard, then get lost in Elysian park. Cute views and a great stroll. After that, adventure down on Sunset Boulevard for drinks at Le Fey or Bar Flores. Burgers at Low Boy is a must for dinner.

Day 2: Another favorite day is to take a stroll around Hollywood Reservoir. The view is shocking for being in the middle of the city. Take the secret stairs down to Beachwood Cafe for the best breakfast and mimosas.

Day 3: Glowing Juices for the best healthy vegan bite and green juice. Vintage shopping on sunset at Sundays best. Later grab a gorgeous glass of white wine at Tilda and then go next door for the focaccia and honey butter at Bacetti.

Day 4: Farmers markets are all over the city in different parts of town. Sunset Farmers market is on Tuesdays and if you’re still hungry after sampling everything, try The Window for burgers and their insane kale salad. To die for every time!

Day 5: Malibu for a hike at Los Liones or Malibu Creek State park. Then Malibu Farm for lunch and a walk down the pier!

Day 6: Start off the morning with a hike near Bronson Caves to the Hollywood Sign. Then a breakfast burrito at The Oaks. If you’re looking for a sexy dinner, we suggest Pace in Laurel Canyon.

Day 7: Sundays are for Melrose Trading post and Jazz at Bar Stella. Get there at 6:30 for magical live music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Okay let’s start with our moms! Or maybe it’s all moms in general. Or actually women. How could all of our recognition not go to the women in our lives that have made us who we are? We could sit here and name 27 people that helped us along the way and we are absolutely grateful for all of those humans but I think when it comes down to it, we would like to thank the women who fought for their rights because if they didn’t, how could we have started this business? Unorganized Home, we are two women and a gay man. So that means the gays too. We think it’s important to pay credit where credit is due. So thank you to the girls and the gays!
