We had the good fortune of connecting with Dana Le and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
It’s a balance between self-discipline and flexibility. As an entrepreneur, you need to stay focused on your goals and practice consistency despite distractions. Building up this discipline helps with allocating time more effectively, which is essential to make progress and improve over time. However, being too rigid on your commitments can limit potential opportunities, so you must also learn that things can change and sometimes it’s for the better. My success happens when I harmoniously balance these factors.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m building a startup called Wander Health, which connects travelers going around the world to trusted concierge doctors and clinics. We’re like the international ZocDoc. We’re the largest US-based solution that offers rapid, on-demand online booking to non-emergency, English-speaking doctors for in-person care while you’re traveling overseas by building, vetting, and managing an international network of clinics. Our vision is that you can get access to healthcare no matter who you are or where you are. My previous experience in building an international network of 60+ hospitals and 7 startup accelerators, contracting across borders, and negotiating multi-million dollar contracts between hospitals and insurance companies have equipped me with the skills I need for my current business.
As a young woman of color, there came challenges and biases I had to face. I overcame this by focusing on building a personal brand highlighting my achievements, interests, and personality, so people can easily search me up and know that I’m here to build towards a better future within my industry. I started to consistently post on LinkedIn and Instagram, which helped me with business development, get new speaking engagements, and stay top-of-mind. If you don’t show what you’ve done, people won’t know what you’re capable of and place you in those opportunities you didn’t even know existed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m proud to admit that I have convinced a handful of people to move to LA because of my itinerary, but also LA sells itself. Here’s what we would do: Start the day with a workout class at either of my favorite gyms: Gloveworx (if you want a killer boxing workout with professional athletes) or DMN8 (if you want an incredible oceanview HIIT class with fun vibes).
Then for lunch, we have multiple options that are my favorites, like Alfafa for salads, Kazunori for hand rolls, Erewhon for their smoothies or hot bar, Planta for plant-based food, or Simpang Asia for Indonesian/Singaporean comfort food. We can also go shop on Abbott Kinney or hang at the beach and play volleyball or beach tennis.
For dinner, we go get Korean food at either Hangari, Jeong Yuk Jeom, Pigya. Some of the best Korean food I’ve had in this country is here in LA.
My favorite places to go out and have drinks are The Victorian, June Shine, Waterfront, and Terracotta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank all my friends and family who supported me through my startup journey – from making your homes feel like my home to brainstorming new opportunities on how I can further my business to comforting me on those hard days by pushing me to be better. Through all the whirlwinds, you all stood by my side.
