Meet DJ DIALS | Talent Buyer and Event Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ DIALS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ DIALS, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Early on as a performer and entertainer, I didn’t know how to break into the scene. I was talented, but didn’t know how to make an impact within the nightlife space. I loved marketing strategy, but didn’t have anyone to work with. I quickly realized that the best way to learn is by throwing yourself at it, in full, with passion and commitment. Working with other talented people, I started to manage other music acts. When I couldn’t get my clients gigs, I started producing the shows by myself. This created so many opportunities for growth, I had to learn as I went along. Soon I had a fledgling business that centered around producing events for my community and managing my talented friends.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Djing when I was 12 years old, so it’s something that I’ve done more than anything else in my life. Producing and throwing events became second nature from high school parties to now huge, large scale festivals, corporates and club nights.
The company Dj Dials Presents has become synonymous with cutting-edge events that blur the lines between music, art, and technology. From intimate warehouse gatherings to large-scale festivals, his vision for immersive experiences has left an indelible mark on the electronic music landscape.
The biggest challenges have been to maintain a high degree of productivity without burnout. Burnout emotionally, financially, socially, spiritually – everything now is about balancing and optimizing the time I have to work.
It hasn’t always been easy. Managing personalities, talent and your own self esteem / ego as an artist and businessman can be rough.
Being compassionate and holding time and space for people while still juggling the constant pressures of delivering quality without compromise is a daily practice.
Focusing on doing what you love is the most important motivation and having a daily practice and discipline is the key to success. Whatever you do, don’t give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For San Francisco?! Dolores Park. Hawk Hill. NOPA, my favorite late night Haunt. Def check out ZEITGEIST. Support local small rooms like Bottom of the Hill, Monarch, Audio, Brick and Mortar and more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shout out Robbie Kowal from HUSH CONCERTS. He was an OG concert promoter and was always there for me in the beginning and to this day. Working with someone that has had 30+ years of experience was a godsend. Hearing stories about booking James Brown to seeing him and his company become a national vendor and promoter has been inspirational.
