Hi Lorenzo, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When it comes to the decision of whether to keep going or to give up, my advice would be to never make giving up your primary option. Life is an unpredictable journey, often filled with unexpected challenges and setbacks. Furthermore, accept the possibility of failing, as it is part of our plan and also a great opportunity to learn. Every day we can find many reasons to give up, but there are thousands hidden reasons to keep going; it’s just a matter of finding them. Instead of viewing obstacles as reasons to quit, I encourage embracing them as opportunities for growth and learning. Every twist and turn in life presents a chance to reassess, adapt, and ultimately emerge stronger. So, my advice is to keep pushing forward, maintain a positive mindset, and trust that perseverance will lead you to where you’re meant to be.

Hello, my name is Lorenzo Breda. I am a film composer and guitar player, born and raised in Italy, near the city of Milan. I began my music journey at the age of 12, with my first guitar lesson marking the inception of my musical career. My academic path led me to delve into the study of jazz music in my home country, followed by further exploration in film scoring and jazz composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Following graduation, I relocated to Los Angeles, where I currently reside and pursue my career.

I’ve often considered myself fortunate, largely due to the opportunity to turn my passion into my profession. This aspect has infused my journey with a deep sense of enthusiasm and creativity. Nonetheless, like any path of personal development, there were moments of discomfort. In particular, at the onset of my Berklee journey, interacting with highly skilled musicians triggered a tendency to compare myself, leading to doubts about my own abilities. It was during those instances that I consciously endeavored to regulate my emotions, allowing logic to prevail. This experience was profoundly impactful as it taught me how to transform negative emotions into fresh challenges, facilitating personal growth.
During those times, I was not alone. I am thankful for having crossed paths with individuals who supported me through those moments. They provided invaluable advice and genuine affection, which I deeply cherish.

Through my journey, I’ve amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience. What I cherish most about my profession is its perpetual learning curve, which consistently enhances my skills and insights. The fundamental value I’ve acquired is the capacity to attentively consider and value the opinions and ideas of others. This aptitude significantly influences my music-making every day, leading to noticeable improvements and enrichments in my work.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I mentioned earlier, I spent a significant part of my journey in Italy, my home country. During my time there, I had the privilege of witnessing some of the most talented and creative musicians and artists. However, due to cultural and historical factors, the current music scene in Italy is not thriving, and many artists struggle to obtain the resources they need. Sadly, this leads to many talented individuals giving up on their artistic pursuits.
