Meet Lookas | Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lookas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lookas, what are you inspired by?
I constantly feel like my inspirations are changing based on my mood, where I’m located, or what kind of music i have been listening to… When i am writing alot of music im usually tapping into any past history in my own life or any feelings i felt from the music im writing. I like to paint a picture in my mind that goes along with the music idk its weird but its what i do,

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a music producer from Miami, Florida. Born and raised here i started getting into music at a young age since my family would always have music on around the house or throw parties, and even my mom’s whistling habit… I played piano from a young age and never had an interest in music production until the age of 17 when EDM was really taking over the scene and Ultra and other festivals were becoming more popular. I fell in love with working on a computer making beats and manipulating sound and creating worlds of songs on a program. Things took off for me and i signed a few songs with a few major labels and had a successful multi-platinum hit song with Flo-Rida. I got to tour most of the world and visit places i never imagined existed. The world came crashing to a halt when covid hit and things got really dark for me. Drug abuse and the combo of being alone and stuck in my house was not good for me. My career slowed down along with the world, and i considered giving up the idea of making music as a career and even making music at all… It was a scary place for me until one day i decided to change my life for the better. I’ve been clean over a year now and happier with the music i am creating today and extremely excited for people to enjoy it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man there’s a lot of stuff to do in LA but i would say my favorite thing to do is get Korean BBQ or of course In n Out since I’m from the east coast and we don’t have it there… I really enjoy driving down the PCH and hitting the beach towns and getting some good seafood as well. For nightlife there’s always clubs and shows to go to in LA and i think that’s what makes it so special since there’s always something to do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ethan Geltzer. This guy changed my life forever and opened my eyes to what goes on behind the scenes in the music industry. There’s a lot of hard work and relationships that are made over time and patience and i got to see him rise from being a graduate at a school in philly into putting his foot in the door at a major record label. He showed me the potential i had and showed me how to believe in myself and get up on a stage in front of 10,000+ people. Also my mom and dad and really my entire family have always had my back and always will so shoutouts to ya’ll 🙂
