Meet Nachelle Davis | Political Content Creator & Independent Journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nachelle Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nachelle, what do you attribute your success to?
Some would say I am passionate to a fault. When I believe in someone or something, I will go to the mattresses. Some could say it is “too much” or “too aggressive”, where I say it is the key to my success. My intense passion mixed with my authenticity mixed with a whole lot of knowledge is how I have gotten to where I am. When you are presenting nothing but your true self and when you genuinely believe in yourself, anything is possible. And people will connect with that. People will want to be around that. Being a woman who is unafraid to ruffle some feathers, who understands what I bring to the table and who grew up with extremely strong women in real life and afar, has led me to a road of success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everyday I wake up at 5am to make sure I am getting the updated news east coast time. Before coffee or even the bathroom, I educate myself to make sure I am as informed as I can possibly be. I began this journey into the political content creator world because 2016 wrecked me to a point of I have no other choice but to inform. I had to speak up. Overtime, my followers have become to rely on me for their Congressional news briefs or breakdowns of the Supreme Court’s decisions or polling numbers, they trust me. And that is why I take what I do very seriously. Some may be ok with reading headlines and covering just the headlines. Or buying into the negativity of it all. Or making ill informed content. That’s not me, I am calm, cool and fully educated. And if I make a mistake, if I inform incorrectly, I own it. That’s extremely important to me. And while it is not all unicorns and rainbows, because after all, I am covering politics and nothing is more polarizing than that. I have learned that the wins will outweigh the loses. And that if the hate is intense, I must be doing something right. I hope that anyone who watches my content, walks away learning something and then informing others. Or feels inspired and decides to get involved in the political process. I just want to spread the knowledge I have to make a difference in whatever way I can.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA isn’t LA without a stop at El Coyote for some out of this world Mexican food. I’ve gone there for some of the most important milestone celebration dinners since I’ve been in LA. Zumma Beach in Malibu is always a good idea. I love that it is further down away from the tourist. I’m a complete Jordan sneaker head, so the sneaker shops on Melrose are always a must for me. You never know what you will find or how much you’ll spend but it’s always worth it. And right around the corner, you’ve got Pinks. Can’t ever go wrong with a Pinks hot dog. West Hollywood is my favorite for anything really. Brunch, drinks, dancing. Always full of life. And The Abbey has a portrait of Elizabeth Taylor which is as iconic as a bar can get.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be the strong, independent woman I am today with me being raised by my Mom, Grandma, and Aunts. They showed me to how to fly every day and for that I am forever grateful. To my Dad for being the absolute greatest girl Dad, who showed me girls can do anything boys can do including love sports. And to the women in my political world who showed me what it meant to be powerful and made me believe in myself at a very young age. Their decisions to show up and let it be known that women belonged in the room, shaped my entire belief system. They are forever my homegirls. And my husband, who is always in my corner and my biggest fan, what a lucky girl I am.
