Meet Glitteress | Drag Artist, Model & Storyteller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Glitteress and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glitteress, what inspires you?
I’ve been a creative person my entire life. From doodling sketches, writing short stories, and creating board games from a young age, inspiration has come all sources. Music, a lyric, a line, can inspire a drag look from head to toe as it how it makes sense to bring to my life in my mind’s eye. I’ve been a deeply emotional person all of my life, and once I have an idea I have to see it through to fruition sometimes with obsessive excitement (no regrets). daydreams coming to life is the most rewarding and intoxicating part of the creation process. So, it’s cheesy to say but everything inspires me. people, fashion, music, a story, and/or a word.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a drag artist, I always want to create a performance, a piece, and/or a story that marries fantasy, fashion, sensuality, and storytelling. The beauty of drag is no two people will do the same style of drag and where I feel I’m successful is combining the aforementioned pieces of performance in to the “Glitteress” aesthetic.
I don’t think any style of art is easy to be successful in. Success varies and is easy to be hung up on one piece of comparison to another body of work or person. I’m lucky to have a good support network and have worked with incredible artists with mutual respect of seeing the vision. I’ll never take that for granted. We only overcome the really tough moments by the support of our chosen family and friends. I think the greatest lessons i’ve learned and would pass on are be impeccable with your word, be KIND, and be professional.
I want the world to hopefully understand who and what Glitteress is as an artist and entertainer. I hope they “get it and love it”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d have to take them out to a local breakfast spot (&waffles) for chicken and waffles. An absolute favorite of mine. Or, of course my cannabis show at the Artist Tree Cannabis Lounge first Saturday every month 😉
Then thrifting feels like a part time job for me at this point. Start early at the Rose Bowl Flea Market if it’s the second Sunday of the month, and jump to Los Feliz for the boutiques and thrift stores then end with Wasteland and Buffalo Exchange.
Going out that night, we’re doing Akbar to start the night out in Silverlake, then headed to Precinct to hopefully catch on of their drag shows or just enjoy the space in general.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My incredible partner, Jason who sharpens my eyes on a creative project and has helped me become who I am today. Words cannot describe my love for you.
My mother for her endless creativity and kindness
My father for his work ethic passed on to me.
