We had the good fortune of connecting with Ranya Khoury | Streaming Director, US Spinnin’ Records and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ranya Khoury, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
In the realm of music (and entertainment in general), there’s often a blurred line between work and personal life; the traditional 9-5 structure isn’t really applicable. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be challenging, which is why I attribute much of my success to my daily non-negotiable habits. I tend to prioritize these habits in the mornings:
• 6:00am – 7:00am: Wakeup (varies based on my schedule and the volume of calls I have that day). Avoiding my phone for the first hour after waking up is crucial for me, especially since my colleagues are based in the Netherlands. This helps me avoid getting inundated with emails right from the start of my day.
• Journal / Gratitude list
• 30 minute meditation (I’ve been meditating for 4+ years, so this something that needed to be built on)
• Moving my body. This could involve anything from yoga to taking a walk around the reservoir or even boxing. I listen to my body and choose my activity based on how I’m feeling that day.
• Dedicating time to learning something new. I enjoy reading publications like The Creative Independent or listening to podcasts. Some of my favorites include Almost 30, Expanded, The Diary of a CEO, and Podcrushed.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to extend an enormous shoutout to my chosen family – my closest friends.I feel so incredibly lucky to have a group of friends I get to call family; without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. There’s a quote from one of my favorite books, ‘Everything I Know About Love’ by Dolly Alderton, that perfectly encapsulates the idea of finding love in your friendships:
‘When you’re searching for love and it feels like it might never come your way, remember that you likely already have access to an abundance of it – just not the romantic kind. This love may not sweep you off your feet in the rain or propose marriage, but it will listen to you, uplift and rejuvenate you. It will cradle you in moments of sorrow, rejoice with you in moments of joy, and belt out All Saints songs with you when you’re feeling a little too merry. There is so much to gain and glean from this kind of love; it’s something you can carry with you always, holding it close like a cherished treasure.’
To my chosen family: Thank you for being my unwavering support system, my source of laughter, adventure, home! You mean the world to me (and you’re stuck with me forever! xoxo).
