Meet Brooklyn Van Zandt | musician singer songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooklyn Van Zandt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooklyn, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My whole life music and performing have been my number one passion. At 8 years old I started writing my own songs and teaching myself piano and guitar. I had the option to pursue many different things but music is what brings me pure joy. I hope that I can inspire and touch people with my music.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was signed to Kim Dawson Modeling agency when I was six months old and started working professionally as a baby / toddler model. I continued modeling throughout my childhood and teen years and when I could read started acting. I grew up working professionally but at home was still a normal kid who attended public school and played all the sports I could sign up for. I played softball, basketball, soccer, cheer, track and cross country as well as musical theater and student council. At the end of the day you could find me and my family sitting in the living room listening to music or having jam nights and that is where I found my love for music. At 8 years old I started writing my own songs and teaching myself piano and guitar. Years later I started sharing my music on social media under the name HouseofBrooklyn and grew a large following quickly. At 16 years old I auditioned for Dream Academy, a project hosted by Geffen Records and HYBE labels to form the next global girl group. I advanced through auditions and was asked to relocate to Los Angeles to begin the project. I went through some amazing training with some amazing people and was introduced to music industry. I also knew this was what I wanted to do, but going though this project really set me straight on my priorities and exactly what I want to focus on. I just dropped my second self released song and plan to drop music every month as well as preform some live shows.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love LA.. my favorite spots are shopping on Melrose, The Grove, The Farmers Markets and all the cute vintage stores. I love hiking and exploring all the pretty trails in southern Cali. My favorite beaches are Manhattan, Laguna & Malibu. I love hanging out at Venice beach watching the skaters at the skate park and visiting the little shops. Universal City Walk and Amoeba Music is fun too. My favorite places to eat are Papis Tacos, Sugerfish, Malibu Pier cafe, Organico and I’m a huge fan of Trader Joes. I love live music, concerts and karaoke.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I grew up in a supporitive household, being told to do what makes you happy and chase your dreams no matter how big they are. My family and friends have continued to believe in me and the dreams I have had.
