Meet Nathan Alviar | Photographer/Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Alviar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathan, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Fresno, ca born and raised my background and upbringing affected who I am today because of the trails and tribulations I’ve been through growing up. I have seen a lot of things that really shaped who I am today. I’ve seen the good and the bad. I have always known I was on a good path regardless of my surroundings through it all always I’ve just stayed positive and focused but aside from trials and tribulations and seeing a lot of things growing up I have to give thanks to my sister for really being there for me through it all. She’s the one person in my life who honestly made a tremendous impact on my life in such a positive way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
About my art, so id say my work is more lifestyle based. I like to capture people & things in their element. I think that’s the most organic way of photographing something or someone, it’s the same with my video work. What sets me apart from others is the way I view the world through the lens, also the way my creative mind works with the subjects that I’m shooting/working with. I’ve had people tell me that I’ve inspired them to start taking photos, which I think is really cool to me, that I can have an impact on others positively or just spark that creativeness within them. Also, the people I’ve worked with just being so excited with the outcome of my work makes me really proud. I’m excited that I get to keep going honestly and to keep creating and reach new levels and goals. I got to where I am today by being consistent and doing what I love every day. For the most part, it was easy, but I had some days that were hard like creative blocks, feeling unmotivated, but I always overcame those challenges by staying positive. The lessons I’ve learned along the way are don’t keep yourself in a box. Explore and take photos of everything and also stay consistent always. I want the world to know that I’m just trying to inspire and to motivate people positively with my work. As far as my brand is a part of who I am and everything I represent.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was spending a week in Los Angeles, I would take them everywhere like Venice, Hollywood, Santa Monica, ramen spots like Jinya that’s my favorite ramen spot actually but yeah id take them to museums go on hikes etc. as far as drinking and eating I mentioned ramen I also like a nice filet mignon so we would eat at some nice steak and ramen restaurants but for drinks maybe a few rooftop bars or some local breweries. Some of the most fun, interesting, places and things to check out/hang out spots are basically everything is said before. I’m a really fun easygoing/outgoing person, so I think that makes everything we do fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate a shout-out to God first off. My family, friends, the community I live in and my past relationships they all deserve a shout-out because they’ve all helped and supported me through my journey with photography and videography. Who deserves a little more credit and recognition in my story are My Friends & Family they have been there for me through it all. Also, my boss for being a great mentor aside from photography & videography. I want to thank all of them from the bottom of my heart.
