We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisol Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marisol, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We’re a Group Psychotherapy practice. Our practice is dedicated to enhancing mental health awareness and support across various stages of life, including college students, emerging professionals, and seasoned workers. As societal perspectives on mental health evolve, we recognize the diminishing stigma and broader acceptance that mental health is essential and strive to further this progress.

Our practice is deeply attuned to the intricate relationship between social issues and mental health. We particularly focus on supporting young adults, minorities, and marginalized/underserved communities. By normalizing emotional experiences and providing a safe space for expression, we empower individuals to manage their emotions in a healthy and constructive manner.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that mental well-being is foundational to making sound decisions, solving problems effectively, coping in a healthy manner, and fostering a thriving community. Our services contribute to a society where mental health is understood and valued, enhancing overall community resilience and prosperity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am proud of my career in Mental Health. My journey began with a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. After my formal education, I began training as a therapist within community mental health and school settings. My curiosity and passion for learning drove me to explore mental health from an international perspective. This led me to complete training in Italy through the Harvard Global Mental Health Program, enriching my understanding and approach to mental health on a global scale.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in healthcare settings, including Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Kaiser Permanente. I am licensed in California, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Although my career started in Los Angeles, my professional journey has taken me across the country, including significant time in Washington, D.C. This diverse geographical experience has provided me with multiple perspectives on mental health, something I value deeply.
One of my proudest achievements is founding the Sanchez Center, a group mental health practice. The center is committed to providing interdisciplinary, collaborative services with a strong emphasis on cultural humility. I established this practice with a clear vision—to offer the kind of support and services I wished were available to me during my early professional years.
These experiences have shaped my career and taught me valuable lessons about resilience, empathy, and the importance of a multicultural approach to mental health services. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my story is one of passion for mental health, dedication to lifelong learning, and a commitment to improving lives through compassionate, culturally informed care.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a difficult question because there are many places to see and eat in Southern California. I would first like to know if my friend has any places/restaurants in mind.

In Los Angeles, there is the central market, which has a variety of foods to try. I would take them on a walk throughout the Downtown district and, if it’s the summer, invite them for a dancing night at The Music Center: Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles. I would also show them around Orange County, some of my favorite restaurants, and its famous beaches. I love hiking, so I would also extend the invitation to spend some time in nature.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and my spouse, Victor.
