We had the good fortune of connecting with Proda Rolle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Proda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
One of the most important factors for me has been consistency. When you’re up and coming, trying to break through and can seem almost impossible. People usually rock with things/ideas that they are familiar with. So, out of sight out of mind. But when you consistently show up, a trust is built and that allows you to maintain your audience as well as opens room for growth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a “complicated mixing of fact and fiction”. I am a artist of many mediums but my main thing is grounded in hip hop. However i love blending genres to create new sonic experiences. What sets me apart from others is my imagination. Im a forward thinker with vision and I am a firm believer that we all have the ability to shape our reality. I like to incorporate that way of thinking in my art, both sonically and visually. The road has not been easy. A lot of the challenges come from an imbalance of Creativity and Business. A lot of times people get it twisted and think they’re one in the same. Wrong! As a Creative Entrepreneur you have to know when and how to turn on your business savvy. Otherwise you’re food. A lesson i learned early on is that being more passionate about art than business could turn you into a “Starving Artist”. You have to have balance if you want longevity and thats what i’m aiming for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depending on where im at during the time of their visit. I’m currently living between NY and Puerto Rico at the moment so if were in the city id take them to Mr. Purple, Negril or The Victoria. If we’re in Pr we’d hit up the kioskos, La Pared and go Jet Skiing.

I like adventure and food so anything dealing with wither of those two things is cool with me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First i would like to thank God and all of my ancestors. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them. I’d like to shout out my parents for always believing in me and investing time, energy, love and money into me to help me become the man I am today. I’d also like to thank my girlfriend, Niambi, for always pushing me to be my best self. My Daughter for keeping me inspired and motivated. My day ones who constantly lift me up. Lastly but surely not least, Id like to thank my mentors who have poured into me throughout the years and helped put me in position to be successful.
