Meet Zach Adler | Podcaster and Guy with Too Many Hobbies

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Adler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zach, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
One thing that really makes me happy is the act of creation, and specifically FINISHING and publishing a creative project. I think it part this appeals to me because it is such a clear display of having brought value to the external world. If I don’t maker the thing, than the thing doesnt exist. No one else on earth can create the ideas that are in my head. So, it’s really up to me and only me to see them through. They live and die by my hand. I think thats a neat concept.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Whats sets me apart is I’m a Jew in the arts/media space, which is a very rare anomaly. I honestly don’t think my journey in podcasting has been difficult, iv’e really been blessed to have opportunities fall in my lap over and over again. Of course, putting out a quality product for social media is harder work than people realize, so I’d say a lesson I’ve learnt along the way is that this shit aint no little hobby, it’s a large venture that will take up enormous amounts of your time and energy.
I want people to know that I am very uninformed about most world events and therefore take all of my opi ins and hot takes with a heaping mound of salt, even through I’m also super smart and cool
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Brooklyn New York, if a friend was visiting I would take them to the Applebees by times square.
For real though, I feel like I am living in a golden era of stand up, so I’d take them to a few shows in the LES, theres a different one I know about every night of the week. Sesh comedy, the stand, clocked out comedy at stanton st, new york comedy club, the cellar (duh) and even tiny cupboard in bushwick for good measure.
Sunday we are going dancing at the Mr/ Sunday party at Nowadays in Ridgewood, unless they don’t like raves, in which case they can stay at my apartment while I go to Nowadays.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh for sure. Regarding specifically my podcasting career, a few people deserve a whole bunch of credit. I got my start on the Mislaibeled podcast, and the credit for that lies squarely with Laibel Wiener, who started the pod, financed the project, and saw the talent which led him to asking me to come on as cohost and project manager. As for my own podcast, I have a close friend, Ben, who not only edited my first few pods for free, but has constantly given me encouragement to keep on going.
