We had the good fortune of connecting with Zeus Views and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zeus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up, I’ve always thrived doing things my own way. Creating and utilizing my resources came naturally to me, and as my hobbies evolved over the years, I unexpectedly transformed them into a business. My love for art led me to explore various mediums, but I noticed that one of my art hobbies elicited particularly strong reactions from my audience which was photography.
As a high school senior, I was surprised when people began inquiring about my pricing. Until then, I had been creating art purely for enjoyment and had never realistically considered it as a potential career.
It wasn’t long before multiple people began requesting my photography services around town. As I honed my craft, I built a portfolio to market and advertise my business. I realized I needed to become proficient with computer work, photo editing, graphic design, customer service, and photography techniques. As my business grew, I decided not to limit myself and opened up to various opportunities. As I continue to grow as both a business and an artist, I am excited to add beautiful work to my portfolio and build professional relationships with different companies and people.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a fashion, lifestyle, conceptual, and editorial photographer. I’ve always had a passion for documenting life, and I find beauty in capturing these moments for so many different people. My eye for fashion, motion, and my ability to evoke emotion from my subjects set me apart from others. Each photographer has a unique relationship with their subjects, and it’s my job to make each of my clients feel confident and beautiful while capturing their essence.
I am proud of how far I’ve come in my entrepreneurial journey and the connections I’ve made working for myself over the years. I’m excited to see how far I can go as I continue to perfect my craft and expand my business ventures.
I got to where I am today professionally by not giving up on my dreams and my desire to be my own boss. Entrepreneurship is not an easy path, but it’s worth the hurdles and will pay off as you continue to grow and build relationships. You have to stay focused and avoid comparing yourself to others. Your business is your journey, and it looks different for everyone. Find what makes your brand unique and use that as your marketing superpower.
I’ve learned that everything is trial and error. To grow, sometimes you have to fail and understand that it’s part of expanding and trying new things. It’s important to build a team of people and resources that can help execute your visions and provide constructive criticism.
I want to show the world my perspective through my lens and use my art to tell stories of my experiences. As a young, black, and driven creative, I aim to make my mark in the art and entertainment industry and inspire many more artists to come.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend is visiting, and the first place I’m taking her is my favorite hibachi restaurant! I’ve made an itinerary for the week that includes hiking, shopping in the Fashion District, a photoshoot project, a beach day, club nights, sightseeing, and lots of great food!
Most of my friends have different professions, so it’s always fun to step into their worlds. Whether it’s attending an event, being on set, food tasting, or playing sports, there is never a dull moment when my friends come to visit me. I like to give people the full “LA experience” when they come to town so they really get to enjoy and experience what the city has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my parents for always supporting my crafts. Art is often seen as an unserious career path by many people, so I truly appreciate my parents for not only supporting but also encouraging my artistic journey, even before they knew it would turn into a business.
